If you grew up reading Highlights Magazine, then you are well aware of a regular activity in the mag called, “Hidden Pictures.” The game is fun and somewhat addicting. It simply asks you to find certain images that are displayed on the opposite page. But these images are pretty well hidden and usually blend in with the other colors and lines of the scene. There is always a different scene. It could be anywhere from a playground to a day at the zoo. Regardless of what the monthly scene is, the game is a whole lot of fun and it’s quite easy to get the everyone in the family involved.

Over time, you can get quite good at playing Hidden Pictures as you start to recognize where the images can be placed amongst the other colorful objects. For example, if you are searching for a green leaf, it’s a good idea to start out looking at the part of the scene that shows other green objects. Maybe you will find that sought after green leaf in a cucumber that is sitting in a grocery cart. Or maybe it is hidden in the back of a green alligator.

With this said, there is one vintage illustration that has recently made a comeback for it’s picture mystery. The illustration shows a family in the late 19th century, as they are gathered in the living room. There is a father reading a magazine, a mother sitting in a chair, and a little girl playing with a doll on the floor. But evidently, there are also two pets hidden amongst the family gathering.

Look closely to see if you can find the family’s furry friends…

If you’ve given up or you are ready to check your answers, scroll down…

There are two cats. One is lying beneath the father’s legs, not far from the little girl who is seated on the floor. Then, there is another cat who is resting on the mother’s lap, receiving pets. This cat is harder to find, as it’s smaller and has lighter outlines in the illustration.

The beauty of these hidden picture games is that they don’t take up a whole lot of your time and there is no math involved. This particular illustration has been circulating through social media lately and commenters have had the following thoughts on it. Some agreed and others didn’t…

One woman thought the second cat was much harder to find and offered the following advice…

“You can’t find the second one until you enlarge the picture, because you can’t see it.”

“True~ you can’t see the one in foot rest till enlarged. Other I saw right off in Moms lap.”

It was easier for others…

“Found them in two seconds!…This was easy!…Didn’t need to enlarge anything!”

Unfortunately, there were a lot of folks who gave away the answers which led to a lot of angry picture hunters…

“I got them without cheating. I do wish that others would NOT say were they are.”

“Found them….but you can’t help but find them when people can’t follow directions, every time there is a riddle someone gives it away because they can’t follow directions, they need a lesson on following directions!!!!!!!!!!”
