Bear Taliferro Jr. works hard. He has two jobs and never quits. One day after finishing his second shift of the day, he stopped at his local Wal-Mart to pick up some essentials. Among the things he needed was dinner. As he stood in line for checkout, he suddenly heard an ear-splitting cry from the woman in the next aisle.
Then he overheard a terrible conversation. The mother was explaining to her little girl that she had made a mistake and they didn’t have enough money to afford dinner for the night. Meanwhile, Taliferro Jr. was listening to everything, and the thought of that little girl going hungry broke his heart. So, he did the thing that every Good Samaritan with privilege would do – he helped them pay for their food…
After touching the lives of the woman and her daughter during their moment of need, the young hard-worker snapped a picture and shared his story to Facebook.
“Last night, I left from pulling two 14 hour shifts. Stopped by the grocery store to grab food for dinner and as I was checking out a woman started crying in the next checkout line.
“Her daughter asked her what’s wrong and she said we can’t afford to eat tonight. A person behind her gave her a couple dollars and she bought her daughter a Kids Cuisine tv dinner. I told her to grab what she wants, I’ll pay for it.”
That’s when he proved he was a real man. Taliferro Jr. pulled out his wallet and bought them the food they needed to get through the night. Then he took a selfie at the store with his new friends shopping in the background. He was proud of his latest good deed.
Because he was in the right place at the right time, he was able to extend some much-needed kindness to the young mother and her daughter. And he was quick to credit the real reason he was put in that spot – God did it.
“I NEVER stop at this Wal-Mart,” he wrote. “I’m not posting this for likes, I’m simply saying GOD puts you where he needs you to be WHEN he needs you to be there.”
When the internet began spreading the young man’s post, everyone let out a collective Amen. Quickly the post, which was published back in 2015, got more than one million likes. It started to be shared across the globe and went viral.
A little kindness can go a long way. And with more than 125,000 shares and thousands of comments, people took the message to heart.
“Awesome! Praise the Lord!!” wrote Michael Hudgins.
Della Dawkins shared, “God bless you for making that selfless act.”
Georgia LeFlore contributed, “Yes he does Amen, thanks for being obedient, Praise the Lord!”
Gunplay Jones added, “It always gotta be one person to mess up the Flo of things God bless you bro.”
When is the last time you went out of your way to do something nice for someone in need?
