If you’re gonna commit a crime you might want to be a bit caffeinated when you do so.
An armed robbery suspect in Abilene, Texas should’ve had a little nap before he decided to rob his roommate. Twenty-year-old Kanyoni Sedekiya tied his roommate up and demanded money while he was armed. And instead of keeping things vigilant, Sedekiya fell asleep and took a snooze. The roommate was able to free himself by 4:00 am. He then went to a neighboring apartment and notified police who showed up to arrest Sedekiya, who surrendered without incident. He is currently at the Taylor County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery with a bond set for $60,000. At this time the defense attorney is unknown.
It would be interesting to find out what was going through Sedekiya’s head when he decided to fall asleep right in front of his victim. Was he really that tired?
Criminals aren’t always the brightest bulbs in the shed and there have been several occasions where criminals have given themselves away due to stupidity. One armed robber was so dumb he decided to post his plans to rob a supermarket. He even attached a photo of himself with the post, making it extremely easy for police to catch him just 15 minutes later.
And it looks like Sedekiya wasn’t the first to fall asleep at the scene. A retired couple came home to their Lancashire abode to find a man asleep in their bed. Not only had the robber made himself at home in their bed, but he also tidied up the house and bought groceries. Maybe some people just want to get caught?
Another case of some pretty stupid criminals was two drunk tourists who stole a penguin from Sea World in Australia. They managed to break into the park on Queensland’s Gold Coast. They then swam with dolphins and let off a fire extinguisher in the shark enclosure before taking off with Dirk the penguin.
And in maybe one of the best cases of stupidity, a man suspected of arson and vandalism sent a selfie to police in Ohio when he didn’t think the photo that they had was flattering. He texted the police stating: “Here is a better photo, that one is terrible.”
He went on to tell a radio station the following…
“Man, they just did me wrong. They put a picture out that made me look like I was a Thundercat… or James Brown on the run. I can’t do that.”
One terrorist gave himself up, then requested the reward for finding himself.
The mid-to-low-level Taliban commander was suspected of spearheading attacks on US and Afghan troops in the east of the country when he went to a police checkpoint and motioned toward a poster featuring his face. Then, asked for the $100 finder’s fee. Authorities were in shock but chalked it up to the man being an imbecile.
So, while some criminals are bright and can pull off some pretty hefty heists, there are a lot of dumb ones out there.
