Surveillance footage from the Putney Bridge in London shows an early morning jogger pushing a pedestrian out of the way and into the path of a bus. Fortunately, the bus swerves out of the way and avoids the pedestrian by inches. Apparently, the aggressive jogger was not getting the endorphins from the run and was still very angry at the world. The footage clearly shows the jogger at fault. The female pedestrian was walking across the bridge when the jogger slams into her and pushes her onto the ground in the bus lane. Instead of stopping to help the woman, the jogger keeps running as the bus hurtles toward the helpless pedestrian.
As the bus careens toward the woman, her head hangs in harm’s way. If the bus hits her, she’d be dead and it would be the jogger’s fault. But that doesn’t happen. Thankfully, the bus manages to swerve out of the way and avoid striking the vulnerable woman. Tragedy is averted in just the nick of time.
Now the police are searching for the criminal jogger who almost murdered the woman. Sergeant Mat Knowles leads the charge as part of his Putney Safer Neighbourhood Team.
“The victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road. It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle. We are keen to speak to the jogger in the CCTV about what happened that morning. We would urge him or anyone who recognizes him to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
Sgt. Knowles added, “It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle.”
London is outraged that this man did this to an innocent pedestrian. They are hunting him down and plan to give him a proper punishment.
A spokesman from Scotland Yard described what happened, “At about 07:40hrs on Friday, 5 May the 33-year-old victim was walking across Putney Bridge on the east side heading towards Putney Bridge Tube Station when a male jogger knocked her over into the road and into the path of an oncoming bus, which narrowly missed hitting her. The bus stopped and some passengers got off and rushed to the victim’s aid. She received minor injuries from the incident. About 15 minutes later the jogger came back the other way across the bridge. The victim tried to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and carried on jogging.”
The jogger is a white man in his mid-30s. He has brown eyes and short brown hair. At the time of the crime, he wore a light gray t-shirt and dark blue jogging shorts. Officers are relying on the CCTV footage and witnesses to help identify the attempted murderer.
What do you think should come of this man? What kind of punishment does he deserve?
