For generations, people have claimed to have spotted the elusive yeti or sasquatch. But the only problem is that no one has gotten a good photograph or video of the ape-like beast that seems to reside just outside of human civilization. At least no one had convincing evidence, until now…
On a snow-covered road in Russia in the dead of night, a group of friends were driving along when suddenly a “Yeti” dashed across the road right in front of them. While that alone would not have been enough evidence or “proof” to get the scientists and conspiracy theorists invested, having it all caught on dashcam footage certainly was.
And once they uploaded the video online, the clip exploded as people started debating whether it was a true yeti or not. Even the experts are split on that. But what do you say? Check out the clip and contribute your opinion to the discussion!
Near the Urals on a stretch of road in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a yet has been spotted.
The creature was seen dashing across the snowy road and is clearly seen in the video footage (included at the bottom).
As you’ll see, the hunched figure emerges from the side of the road just a few yards in front of the vehicle. Before the dash cam can capture a clear picture of it, the beast skirts across the road and into the darkness on the left side.
While the driver Vadim Gilmanov’s first instinct was ‘yeti’, he does have his doubts. He told TVNZ:
“I mean it could have been someone’s cruel prank. But on the other hand, who else could dash out so quickly in the middle of the night? In the middle of nowhere.”
But the truth of whether Gilmanov really saw the abominable snowman is not certain. But his encounter certainly contributes to the narrative of yeti sightings which date back to the early 19th century.
Before anyone else saw the yeti, a group of Buddhists believed they had encountered the dangerous beast somewhere in the Himalayas. They described it as being a ape-like being, which carried a club-like stone and made a whistling sound.
But the yeti remained the stuff of legends, until sightings of the creature became more common in the twentieth century with the popularization of photograph and videography.
Eventually people made trips to the Himalayas to capture evidence of the elusive primate. Even the Daily Mail led a trip to Mount Everest called the Snowman Expedition back in 1954.
During the DM trip, mountaineering leader John Angelo Jackson photographed something strange. He captured images of large footprints in the snow and ancient cave drawings and paintings of the yeti, which heightened interest in the elusive search for the yeti.
Also, Jackson and his squad found a number of hair samples, which are thought to belong to the yeti.
In 1970, British mountaineer Don Whillans witnessed a creature that could only be described as the abominable snowman back on his trip up Annapurna.
Since the clip went viral days ago, it has already been viewed more than 800,000 times proving just how much people are interested in yeti sightings and conspiracy theories.
