This is horrific.
An Atlanta mother is accused of killing her children by cooking them alive in the oven. According to police, Lamora Williams put her 1- and 2-year-old sons in the oven and turned it on.
She later reportedly contacted the children’s father, Jameel Penn, and showed him live video of the children lying burned on the floor. He called 911 following the incident. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Penn said during a vigil for his children: “I ain’t got no soul no more,” adding, “Ja’karter, Keyante, my world, my everything. I’m lost.”
Williams was arrested on felony murder charges and held without bond in Fulton County Jail. According to Williams, she said that a babysitter was watching the boys and she came home to find the children dead.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that relatives noted that Williams suffered from an undiagnosed mental disorder, with her sister explaining, “She’s had issues from a baby, issues my mom tried to address with the state of Georgia.”
Williams’ 6-year-old daughter was placed in a family member’s care and the mother has a fourth child, whose whereabouts were not made clear.
Those commenting on The Epoch Times Facebook post about the story were understandably disturbed, with one person writing: “They knew she had mental problems but no one thought to get her fixed??? Really why in the hell was she having babies one after another and everyone just sat around watching??? The family and baby daddy are just as much to blame as she is. Birth control should have been the least of what she should have been doing. This makes me sick!!!”
Another person agreed, writing: “If they knew she had mental issues, those poor kids should have been taken into care, and she should have had birth control when she became able to have kids.”
One commenter added: “This is so sad and disturbing! These are innocent children who died in a way that seems too unreal to believe! That’s torture for those poor babies! God give the family the strength they need to move on!!”
Another commenter weighed in with this opinion: “Mental problems or not, this girl needs to fry in the electric chair slowly just like her poor sweet children had to suffer. How awful! Why don’t people just give their kids up, why kill them?”
Another believed Child Protection Services was to blame, noting: “If the state knew she had mental problems and were documented and still left the children in her care, I fault Child Protection Services!!! With everything being ONLINE now, the children are falling through the cracks. No personal contact anymore!!!!”
Another person shared their thoughts on the punishment for such a tragic crime, writing: “Who could do that to a child? We should have tougher laws. She should have to suffer like those boys. Can you imagine the pain they felt? Just crazy. She should get the death penalty. I think there should be a death penalty where they suffer, feel pain like their victims!”
