While on an airplane, a pregnant single mother already had a lot of her mind, but then her toddler son broke down in a temper tantrum and she was at her wit’s end. Because she was well aware that no one wants to hear a whiny crying child on the plane, she grew angry and embarrassed. But she was already dealing with so much within her own body and didn’t have the energy to calm her son down. Because she was so overwhelmed she tried to console her son but failed miserably. She just didn’t have it in her to do it that day. So, a stranger stepped up and offered this pregnant mom the support she needed to get her son to relax during the flight. And his simple act left her speechless.

On her flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta, Georgia, the pregnant mother didn’t have any energy to deal with her fussy and crying son. She was exhausted and pregnant and just needed to rest. Her son had been acting like this the whole trip and she just wanted a moment to herself.

As the mom prayed for some relief, a man, a stranger, came up and said he wanted to help. He told the pregnant mother that he was a dad and knew how to help the boy relax. Grateful, the mom handed her child over to the stranger and closed her eyes.

The man then held her son in his arms and walked up and down the aisles with him until he quieted down and started taking a nap.

Another passenger on the flight, Angela Byrd, noted the entire interaction. She was touched by the man’s kindness. She snapped a blurry picture of the man holding the toddler and shared the following message on Facebook:

“On a flight back to Georgia, this man, who was a stranger to this woman, offered to help her because she was pregnant and alone on the flight and her son was upset and fussy. He told her that he was a DAD, and wanted to help her so she could rest. He walked the aisle most of the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta comforting this woman’s son as if he was his own.”

Angela Byrd then wrote what she honestly felt viewing this simple act of kindness:

“I was in tears…not because he was white and she was black…but because it showed me today that there are still GOOD people out there in a world full of turmoil.”

People across Georgia and the United States shared their appreciation for this man and for Byrd for sharing the story to Facebook. Here are a few comments they added to her picture:

“As hard as the media tries to show us the opposite, most folks are kind.”

“What a wonderful story. It didn’t matter that the baby was black. The gentleman was so kind to help out. The color of our skin should never enter it. We are all children of God. Thank you sir.”

What do you think about this stranger’s willingness to help?
