Do you believe in ghosts? If you weren’t sold on it before, this may just push you into becoming a believer.
When some disturbances at an old school couldn’t be explained, the school looked to their motion-activated security cameras to see if they could uncover anything about the culprit. The footage was downright eerie, to say the least.
Watch as a door opens and closes on its own and a piece of furniture is seen rocking back and forth, with no human intervention. The locker falling open to spill a bunch of its contents is particularly creepy.
Are ghosts to blame? Principal Kevin Barry explained: “Obviously we were alerted to movement in the school and when we went back to review the movement that’s what we saw. ‘It was in the middle of the night. We’re bemused ourselves, we don’t know [what it is].”
Barry added: “We do feel there is something strange going on because people do get from time to time a real chill in the air when they go past that area. It’s very interesting – one of my teachers brings his pet in with him but the pet never wants to go down that way.”
Okay, consider us freaked out.
Then again, Barry did say he’s skeptical about ghosts being to blame and wondered if someone didn’t just pull a “very well-designed prank.” If so, it’s very well done.
The principal noted: “I’m a skeptic myself but we said we’d throw it up on our Facebook page, simply because we don’t know is this a prank or what? Is somebody playing games with us? It’s a very old building (dating back to 1828)… and it’s got a lot of history.”
He added: “People in old buildings are always hearing noises and strange sounds but this is the first time we’ve actually caught something. We’d often come across papers strewn about but we were never able to say what it was, we just assumed it was students that were doing it.”
Barry further noted that other motion-activated cameras were set up to see if a prankster was around the corner or heading down the hall, explaining: “Because we have motion-sensor detectors now, we should have been able to detect other people coming towards that area on the other cameras, and we haven’t been able to.”
Not everyone commenting on The Daily Mail‘s coverage of the story was a believer, with notes such as: “Totally fake!,” “nope,” and “No it’s not proof that ghosts exist, they don’t. This is proof that someone thinks there are a lot of gullible people out there and there are.”
Another person added: “Ha Ha Ha Ha the only spirits lurking in this video are not dead but delinquents! It’s all staged! Kids will be kids.”
And, of course there were plenty of theories circulating, with one commenter noting: “Why would ghosts throw books and shake a locker for a bit? I’m sure if they exist there are better things they’d be doing. It was obvious by the way it fell that the floor sign was pulled by a string.”
