While you probably best know him as the host of the TV show “Dirty Jobs”, Mike Rowe has made a name for himself as a conservative pundit in recent years. Becoming famous for his hard-working values and common-sense politics, Rowe’s following has continued to grow.

But did you know that Mike Rowe is also an amazing singer? In the YouTube video below, you’ll get to hear the host of “Dirty Jobs” pick up the microphone and sing American’s National Anthem. His lively baritone voice might even give you shivers…

As you know, the end of 2016 saw a number of scandals regarding how professional athletes should respond to the Star Spangled Banner. Led by backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the resistance refused to stand and instead took a knee or worse, just sat it out.

Meanwhile, Mike Rowe wants to unite Americans. He aims to use the Star Spangled Banner to share the love of country with as many people as he can. Even during his time as the host of “Dirty Jobs”, Rowe hopes to show the people of the public, the jobs that people do to keep America running.

But did you know that before he was a TV host, Mike Rowe sang opera professionally?

He once said about the job with the Baltimore Opera, “I joined the opera to get my union card and meet girls. I was a saloon singer, so I went down to the Baltimore Opera and learned an aria and auditioned. I figured I’d do one show and quit. But the girls were everywhere and the truth is, the music was really decent.”

It’s pretty amazing to think that Mike Rowe, the man we think of as getting down and dirty, also has some an artistic side and can sing in foreign languages.

As a response to Mike Rowe’s singing of the national anthem, many people came together to share their thoughts. Below are a few attached to the video.

Paula Lankford wrote, “What a beautiful job by Mike Rowe.  Sang as written without all the squalling that singers usually add to the end!  Well done!”

“Is there ANYTHING this guy can’t do?   He just sang this anthem better than 99% of the “professional” singers that try to,” wrote electricgearbox.

“great voice, but kinda boring… i only got the goosebumps twice,” wrote Tacos Buenos.

Back when Trump won the election, Mike Rowe figured out the reason. As he wrote on Facebook:

“It wasn’t pretty or careful. It took place in sewers and septic tanks, and featured a subversive host in close contact with his 8-year-old inner child who refused to do second takes,” the 54-year-old wrote. “Everyone agreed that Dirty Jobs was totally ‘off-brand’ and completely inappropriate for Discovery. Everyone but the viewers. Dirty Jobs succeeded because it was authentic. It spoke directly and candidly to a big chunk of the country that non-fiction networks had been completely ignoring. In a very simple way, Dirty Jobs said ‘Hey — we can see you,’ to millions of regular people who had started to feel invisible. Ultimately, that’s why Dirty Jobs ran for eight seasons. And today, that’s also why Donald Trump is the President of the United States.”

What do you think about Mike Rowe’s rendition of the national anthem?
