Few people smile and cheer when they realize they’re going to be sitting next to a baby or a toddler on a flight. And if that flight is longer than a couple of hours, they’ll push to get a seat as far from the child as possible. And that’s exactly what was happening when a 2-year-old boarded a plane. People rolled their eyes and reached for their ear plugs. But 2-year-old Guy, who was boarding a Southwest Airlines flight from Kansas City to Chicago with his mom Alya Jakubowicz, made waves when he did something on flight that simply melted every passengers’ heart. And Alya has since shared a video of her little boy – and it has since captured the hearts of people all over the world.
Although passengers glared at Guy as he walked down the aisle to his seat, he had a totally different reaction. Instead of succumbing to their fierce distaste for the young traveler, Guy put a smile on his face and walked through the crowd smiling and greeting every passenger on the way – just like the future president of the United States his mom hopes he becomes.
“My son on the campaign trail, attempting to win the hearts of airline passengers in the hopes of becoming the next Southwest ambassador,” Alya wrote as the caption of her viral Instatram post.
Millions have watched the short video of the adorable toddler making people smile despite their preconceived notions about toddlers on airplanes.
“He is making flying the friendly skies even friendlier with one fist bump at a time!” Alya writes.
In the video, you’ll see that many of the passengers look angry, disgruntled and bored as Guy approaches them. But after the little boy offers a fist bump to each and every person in the aisle, he leaves them with a smile on her face.
The video quickly went viral when Alya posted it to her Instagram page. Many people were touched by the little toddler’s heartwarming willingness to connect with strangers – even if they didn’t want anything to do with him. His simple move brought a smile to people’s lips and made their days a bit brighter.
“He just made everyone’s day,” wrote Megan Lee. “Who could possible have a bad day after getting a fist bump from an adorable 2 yr old!!”
Andrea Loken also loved watching Guy walk down the aisle like a politician. “Guaranteed that pretty much everyone who got a fist-bump enjoyed their flight just that little bit more. Way to go, little guy!”
Watching Guy’s giving nature, even reminded some people of their own children – before the worries of the world were burdened onto their shoulder.
“This brings back memories of my son who was the same age as this lil’ sweetie and when we’d go in to McDonald’s he’d have to first go hug everyone sitting eating before we ordered… every time. LOL I sure miss that. He’s 19 next week,” Karen Wolfe wrote. Now her son still has some of that kind-hearted baby within him. “He’s still a loving kid – it I can still call him that at nearly 19!”
