Losing an important piece of jewelry can be devastating, especially if it’s a wedding band or engagement ring. These two items can hold so many memories and the loss is significant when you’re no longer wearing them on your finger.
An engagement ring and wedding band are symbols of love, but also signify a time when a relationship first made steps toward being a lifetime of commitment. So, it’s understandable that when Kay lost her engagement ring, she felt the loss in a big way.
She searched for the lost ring for months, but never found it. Thankfully, her husband, Dave, finally found the ring in a heart-shaped box – 15 years later! Rather than just turning it over to Kay, he took it one step further, and proposed to his wife all over again, ring in hand.
Their daughter, Lacey, captured the special moment on video. She posted it to YouTube, where it’s now been viewed millions of times, explaining: “About 15 years ago my mom lost a very important piece of jewelry, her wedding ring. We searched the house high and low for months, and finally came to the conclusion that it was lost on a job site, or stolen. But on October 26th we learned the truth, it had been stashed away in a small wooden box of my dad just found. We knew reuniting them was going to be emotional enough but dad and I had to add a twist. See here you go my dad proposing to my mom again after 38 years of marriage with my mom and her apron, in the garage! Maybe she was a little dramatic, but hey, it’s her missing wedding ring!”
Okay, so it wasn’t the most romantic setting, but the reaction is so real. As Kay searches for something in the garage, Dave sneaks up and gets down on one knee, perched to pop the question (for the second time!). Kay is oblivious, as she clearly has her mind on whatever she’s looking for.
After a wait that seems like it’s never going to end (seriously, what is she doing?), she finally spots him on one knee and clearly is confused about what’s going on. Hilariously, she doesn’t think too much about it, returning to the closet chore in progress and leaving the poor guy waiting on bended knee. Didn’t she think it was odd that he was down there like that?
She finally finishes up her task and he asks, “Will you marry me?,” pulling the long-lost ring out from behind his back to present to her…and she is absolutely stunned. In fact, her legs give out and she falls to the ground from the shock of it all!
Kay is totally floored, covering her mouth with her hands while Dave asks, “Will you?” Her response? “No way! Where did you find that?,” as she throws her arms around his neck and the two share a sweet moment hugging while she cries tears of joy.
She slides the ring on her finger, saying, “I can’t believe it…and it fits!”
Who doesn’t love a happy ending, even if it took 15 years?
