When a Good Samaritan wanted to share his good fortune with a downtrodden homeless man, he bought the man a meal from McDonald’s. It wasn’t much, but it would help the man who was down on his luck get through to the next day. But only moments after purchasing the meal for the man in need, police officers arrived at the scene and threw the Good Samaritan out on the street.
Yossi Gallo captured the horrifying moment the cops from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina failed to exhibit empathy. The police were forcing the homeless man out of the fast-food restaurant, even though he was in the middle of eating his meal because other customers and employees had complained about him.
But you can see how angry Gallo is. He criticizes the cops and the McDonald’s management for treating the man so poorly. However, the tide turns and then the police turn on Gallo himself. Although he was being a Good Samaritan by buying the homeless man a meal, the cops demand he leave the restaurant too. They accused him of disorderly conduct.
Because McDonald’s and the Myrtle Beach police were unwilling to allow him to help the man in need, Gallo took the homeless man to another restaurant where the people were not so outraged at his presence.
The video was captured last week and earned millions of views in a short time. Gallo posted the clip on Facebook and community members were outraged to see the cops treating them like this.
Despite how the incident appears, Mayor Brenda Bethune of Myrtle Beach claims that Gallo manipulated the clip to make it seem the police are in the wrong. Bethune along with the police claim that the video does not accurately capture the incident that happened in front of the camera.
The McDonald’s owner also accused Gallo of being a nuisance. He said that Gallo had behaved improperly at the location before and this was not the first time he was asked to leave.
The police officer in the video claims that the homeless man is being kicked out of the restaurant because he was making other customers uncomfortable by asking them for money.
Gallo shot back with a request to allow them to at least finish their meals, that he paid for. The restaurant manager then claims Gallo is being disorderly and demands he also leave.
Gallo only wanted to share his good fortune with a man not as lucky as he.
“I waved him down, and I said, ‘Hey, are you hungry?’ and he said, ‘Yes,’” Gallo told WMBF-TV. “So I went in there with him, and as soon as we went inside, the lady at the register says, ‘You’re not getting food.’ She tells him he’s not getting food.”
Gallo was outraged by the cashier’s behavior and starts recording the incident. He shouts at the employees.
“You guys suck. He didn’t even ask me for food. I brought him from outside. You guys suck,” Gallo is heard saying.
Do you think he should have been kicked out?
