Updated July 7, 2017

When a woman receives a proposal for marriage from her boyfriend, she usually expects that from that moment on, she will be the only woman in his life. But for one Indiana woman, not only did she not expect it, she demanded otherwise! You are going to fall in love with this tory of a man who loves a woman and how both of them love her sister.

Will Seaton met Ashley Schaus at a car show in 2010. They started dating, and not too long afterwards, Ashley decided to introduce her new boyfriend to her family, especially her sister, Hannah.

It was then that Ashley told Will that the two sisters were a package deal. She said “She has Down syndrome and diabetes, and I look after her and protect her. To be with me, you must accept her and love her as well.”

The two sisters have been close since the day that little Hannah was born. “Hannah and I share a very special bond.”

When Will and Ashley moved in together she says “We built our home close to Hannah, so that we can spend a lot of time with her while still having our own privacy.”

So, in March of 2016, Will drove the two sisters to a field filled with wildflowers and proposed to both of them: Ashley to be his wife, and Hannah to be his best friend.

Ashley said “Before you knew it, he was down on one knee, asking her to be his best friend forever. It was the sweetest moment in my whole life watching Hannah be so happy and feeling so special. We may not know what the future will hold for Hannah, and I hope that someday she finds a sweet boy, but for now, I am so thankful she got to enjoy that moment that every girl dreams about.”

Will and Ashley settled on the date of October 7, 2016, and will be married in Rockport, Indiana.

Before the wedding Ashley said of her sister “She’s more than just a bridesmaid, she’s practically one-third of the wedding. Hannah is going to be the ‘best sister.'”

In fact, Hannah will even share vows with the couple. Ashley says “They will make promises to each other to always care for one another, share secrets, make jokes and go fishing, as that’s one of their favorite things to do together. Will and I will share our vows and we all three will walk out down the aisle together. She will be a part of everything when it comes to the wedding.”

Even during the reception, Hannah is being given special consideration, as Will will have a first dance with her to the Harry Nilsson song “Best Friend”.

In addition to the vows, Will and Hannah will also share a first dance to Harry Nilsson’s “Best Friend.”

Ashley explains the sisters’ special bond “When Hannah was born and they told me I had a sister, I never would’ve thought that I would’ve shared my wedding day, my engagement, and my whole life with her, but now, under all the circumstances, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want Hannah right by my side throughout everything and someday in the future, whenever Will and I start a family, I know that Hannah will be a big part of helping raise our child. She will be a great aunt.”
