The summer heat is starting to warm us up. Here at AWM, we’re already dreaming about sunny days at the beach with family and friends. Not only that, but backyard barbecues are also some of our favorite things to do. And while delicious steaks and thick burgers are about as satisfying as food can come, we also love our sweets. But because you probably spend a lot of your prep time working on the main course, you might not have time for a delicious dessert. It takes time and there are easy ways out of that conundrum. Watermelon sorbet is fresh and low in calories. Although it has a sweet taste, no added sugar is required and this desert will give your family and friends something sweet to satisfy their after-dinner palette.
All you need to bring this dessert to life is a seedless watermelon. Just peel it and cube it. Then follow these instructions to make the most delicious 1-ingredient watermelon sorbet possible. This is a recipe you must share with friends.
Place your cubed watermelon pieces on a 9-inch by 13-inch baking sheet. Make sure the fruit pieces are not touching. Then place the baking sheet in your freezer for two hours. Make sure the fruit freezes all the way through before proceeding to the next step. If you move on prematurely, you won’t get the consistency you’re looking for.
When it’s ready, take it out of the freezer. Then in about four or so batches, slowly add the watermelon cubes to your food processor. Puree the pieces until the mix becomes smooth like a thick cream.
As your food processor becomes full, empty the smoothed out watermelon puree into a loaf pan. Pack it down and even out the sorbet throughout. Use a spatula or wooden spoon for this step and not your hand or you might melt the product. Continue pureeing watermelon pieces until you can fully pack the loaf pan.
Then place the packed watermelon puree into the freezer for an hour or two. And that’s it!
Now, when you’re ready to enjoy your delicious one-ingredient watermelon sorbet, take the pan out of the freezer. Before diving into it, let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes or so depending on how hot it is. Then, when it has softened, scoop it into serving bowls and hand them out to your guests.
