I Never Thought This Recipe Would Be Made Public, But It Was. This Outback Potato Recipe Is So Good!

It’s a well known fact that steakhouses have the best side dishes. Sure, we go there for the big slabs of meat, but we can’t help but stock up on those tasty sides while we are there.

But do we have to head to the steakhouse to enjoy amazing side dishes? Of course not. With a little ingenuity and the right ingredients, we can make them at home any time we want. This incredible recipe for Outback Steakhouse’s baked potatoes comes from 12 Tomatoes and was adapted from a recipe found on CopyKat Recipes.

Outback Steakhouse Baked Potatoes
Category: Appetizers, Finger Foods
Yield: Serves six
Cook Time: thirty minutes

Ingredients
6 russet potatoes (or smaller potatoes if that’s what you have on hand; baking time may vary)
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons kosher salt, or to taste

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350º F.
2. Rinse potatoes under cool, running water and pat dry with paper towels. Note: don’t prick potatoes with a fork.
3. Dip a rolled up paper towel in your olive oil and rub each potato all over with oil until they’re shiny, but not so much that they’re dripping.
4. Transfer potatoes to a baking sheet and evenly sprinkle salt over them.
5. Place in oven and bake for 50-55 minutes (less time for smaller potatoes), or until fork tender.
6. Remove from oven and serve hot.

Right now, Outback is offering the Loaded Bloomin’ Onion for a limited time at their restaurants. This crazy double-decker appetizer combines two house favorites: the bloomin’ onion and cheesy bacon fries. Here’s how you can make it at home.

Loaded Bloomin’ Onion
Category: Appetizers, Finger Foods
Yield: Serves four to six
Cook Time: two hours

Ingredients
1 blooming onion
1 1/2 cups french fries
1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
Nonstick cooking spray
2/3 cup Mexican blend shredded cheese
2 strips cooked bacon, diced
1 cup ranch dressing
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
2. Prep Outback-style blooming onion and heat oil.
3. Combine french fries with seasoning salt, onion powder, and oregano in a medium bowl and toss until well-mixed. Arrange seasoned fries on a small sheet tray sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and bake for about 6 minutes, or until the fries have begun to crisp up slightly.
4. While the fries are crisping up, fry blooming onion and then place on paper towels to let excess oil drain off.
5. Next, top the warm fries with cheese blend and bacon and bake for another 4 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling. Immediately top the blooming onion with the warm, gooey cheese fries.
6. Lastly, mix together ranch dressing and cayenne pepper to serve on the side.
