While it might just be public perception, parents of young ones these days seem to have a lot more stresses to worry about. I don’t know about you, but kidnappings and abductions and other horrible crimes against children did not seem to be as common back in the 1950s or 1960s. But now stories about pedophiles and people who commit crimes against children appear in the news on a regular basis.
It could happen anywhere. While going grocery shopping, while on a walk with the stroller, or during any other mundane activity – like grabbing a drink at the coffee shop. As you’ll see in the security footage from one shop, as the parent turns around to pay the cashier, a strange reaches out to snag the baby from the stroller…
Criminals have become braver than ever before. In just a few seconds, you’ll see how quickly an attempted kidnapper almost stole a couple’s baby. While they were ordering coffee at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the alleged criminal reached out to snatch the baby.
You can see the surveillance footage from the store at the Center City coffee shop. The nightmare occurred on Sunday morning. You can watch the suspect reaching into the baby’s stroller and trying to grab the infant while the baby’s parents are facing the other direction.
Good thing they spotted him.
Mom quickly wheeled the stroller out of the shop. Meanwhile, dad confronted the alleged kidnapper. He exchanged intimidating words to the potential abductor to make sure the criminal knew he was messing with the wrong family.
Unfortunately, the couple fled the establishment before anyone could call 911. The police did arrive at the Dunkin’ Donuts and officers found the suspect. And after a few interviews, they took the alleged kidnapper into custody.
But in a twist that no one expected, the police released the video footage so they could find the couple whose baby was almost snatched. They need them to press charges against the suspect.
You can watch the video report from Inside Edition right now. Here’s what people had to say about the clip:
Missy Villanueva wrote, “The guy wasn’t trying to steal the baby. He’s a regular customer and he has some mental issues. I think he was just trying to look at the baby.”
“As a mother I would not want a stranger just walking up to my child like that bit I also would not have my child behind me. I dont even want my 11 year old walking behind me. I know the parents reacted the way they did because they left the child behind them and when they looked back a stranger was touching their child,” shared Icl Marti.
“I think he was trying to steal the baby because if you watch it and look very closely the stroller was moving away from the parents. And he could have put his hands on the handle and ran,” wrote Emma’s Vlog’s.
Do you think the man was trying to kidnap the baby? Or was he just saying hi?
