It Wasn’t Until Cell Phone Video Was Released That People Realize How Lucky They Were No One Died

American Airlines has taken yet another hit to the company’s reputation. After dragging Dr. David Dao out of the plane for double booking his seat and then dragging a deceased, half-naked woman down the aisle of a recent flight, American Airlines can’t afford any more bad publicity. But after the video below was released, the company just took another it. After experiencing “severe turbulence,” the video proved that American airlines doesn’t have the property safety measures in place to keep passengers as safe as they’d like to be. As the video demonstrates, suitcases and items packed inside the suitcases flew out of the overhead compartments and got strewn across the cabin. Check out the video below to see how American Airlines deals with “severe turbulence.”

Not only did the turbulence demolish the overhead compartments, 10 people were also hospitalized. The aftermath was a total disaster for the airline that can’t seem to get a break.

When passengers landed in Philadelphia International Airport, they were still shaken from the plane’s free-fall that could have resulted in more hospitalizations if it wasn’t stopped. American Airlines flight 759 departed from Athens, Greece on Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses are still shaking from the death-defying experience. The event was terrifying and a flight attendant even dislocated his shoulder during the commotion.

Three passengers and seven crew members were rushed to the hospital and treated for the injuries they received aboard American Airlines flight 759.

Footage snapped by one of the passengers, shows the plane’s interior destroyed. The aisle is clutter with objects and luggage and the ceiling is covered in coffee and juice stains.

The plane lurched and started to free fall just moments after the flight crew handed out drinks. This caused the beverages to slam into the ceiling.

Question of the week: If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?

LA-based doctor Ervin Fang is the man who recorded the video footage. In the clip, you can hear the captain saying:

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. We really apologize for that unexpected bump. We were expecting some light turbulence…it was just totally unexpected. We’ve asked our cabin to make an assessment, make sure everybody is OK. Again, we sincerely apologize. We don’t anticipate any more of that. We want to make sure, as always, to keep your seat belt fastened.”

Because Fang was a doctor, he offered medical help to the flight attendant who was severely injured during the turbulence. The attendant hit the ceiling when the plane started to free-fall. Fang helped relocate the man’s shoulder while they were still in the air.

Jessica Huseman also remarked on Twitter about the terrible American Airlines flight when she got back home.

“Back in NYC. Turbulence on flight was so insane and unexpected a flight attendant dislocated his shoulder. No warning at all. Plane lurched thru the air. Honestly, terrifying.”

Ian Smith, a passenger, talked to ABC 6 and said that the flight had left just 30 minutes before when the turbulence struck.

“Thirty minutes out. They were giving us our drinks. The flight attendants were in the last couple rows when they said ‘fasten your seat belts.’ And then they said for the flight attendants to get to their seats, and they didn’t even have time. It started shaking, then it took a big drop. Babies screaming, people in front of us hitting the ceiling.”
