There are certain moments that stay with us forever. The biggest surprises during our lifetimes have a tendency to drum up emotions for the rest of our lives. And if captured on video, these moments have the opportunity to make others tear up and be just as overcome with emotion.
It is one of the reasons why the military surprise videos are such a hit these days. Service men and women are under more pressure than ever to get creative with how they come home to their families. One Navy Seal went so far that he equipped himself with scuba gear and snuck up on his wife and children while they were swimming in the water. Talk about being surprised!
The emotions that are revealed in these videos make it so that they never get old. Most people can relate to what it feels like to be away from a loved one for a long period of time, and if you can’t then you will at least naturally feel the emotion of the child when he/she is reunited with her father or mother.
The latest and greatest military surprise video involves a sweet second grader who gets the surprise of a lifetime while speaking on stage during a school assembly.
Seven-year-old Imogen Nowak was taken aback with emotion when she turned around while on stage, only to see her father standing in uniform right in front of her. “Daddy!” she yelled and jumped right into his arms. The students in the audience cheer her on as she clings to her daddy. Her father, Army Captain Eric Nowak had been deployed in the middle east and the timing of the surprise couldn’t have been more fitting, as Imogen was in the middle of speaking to a large group of her classmates about a care package that they had recently put together and sent overseas.
“There is no candy over there, so this meant a lot to him,” Imogen said to her classmates just as her dad is approaching her from the back of the stage. She also doesn’t know that there is a photo of her and her dad on the big screen behind her.
“I like it a lot,” said Nowak as he got eye level with her back. As soon as she heard the voice behind her, she turned around, stared at him for a moment as if she was in a bit of shock. You can tell that it takes her a moment to gather what is going on and that her dad is standing right in front of her. When she has fully grasped what is going on, she jumps into his arms and doesn’t let go.
The majority of commenters applauded the father’s surprise visit and shared their thanks for his service…
“Welcome home! Thanks for your service with all you do!”
A child’s reaction to life’s moments are always so genuine and innocent, it’s hard not to be enamored by the moment…
“Her reaction is priceless.”
“The way she runs into his arms.”
