Macaulay Culkin Finally Admits What Happened Behind Closed Doors At The Neverland Ranch

Updated December 7, 2017

As a child actor, Macaulay Culkin quickly became a household name with roles in the Home Alone movies, Uncle Buck, and My Girl. One of the biggest questions surrounding the star, however, was his relationship with Michael Jackson.

As Culkin is a close friend (and godfather) of Jackson’s daughter Paris, it’s inevitable that his past interactions with Michael continue to be of interest.

Specifically, what happened at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch when Culkin and his siblings were invited there?

The actor called their friendship “unique,” explaining on the witness stand during Jackson’s 2005 trial on child molestation charges: “He was very childlike. He liked doing the things we [kids] did. He played with us.” Culkin called their relationship “comforting” as a child star. He spent most of his time at the ranch between the ages of 10 and 14 and then moved away from L.A., later returning to Neverland Ranch when he was 17.

At the time of the trial, Culkin testified that the singer didn’t abuse him and he never witnessed any abuse of others. Though Jackson was acquitted of all charges, the accusations and rumors followed him over the years.

In 2004, Culkin noted on Larry King Live: “He’s a good friend of mine, and he still is. Everything that’s going on, it’s unfortunate. It’s an unfortunate situation for everyone involved.”

Jackson first met Culkin when he appeared in a production of The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. When he rose to fame with his role in Home Alone, Jackson invited him to come to the Neverland Ranch.

Culkin told King: “Nothing happened” at the ranch, explaining the nature of sleeping in the King of Pop’s bed: “you have to remember, Michael Jackson’s bedroom is two stories. It has three bathrooms…You have to understand the whole scenario.”

He further noted: “I talked to him like he was a normal human being…He’s just a guy, who’s very kid-like himself.”

Jackson later asked Culkin to be his daughter’s godfather – Macaulay was only 17 when Paris was born in 1998. Culkin is also godfather to Paris’ siblings, Prince Michael and Prince Michael II.

Macaulay and girlfriend Brenda Song popped up in Paris on November 22, 2017 with Paris Jackson. They were first identified as a couple in October 2017, when a source told Us magazine: “They were spotted holding hands and being cute with each other.” Culkin and Song costar in the movie Changeland. Culkin dated Mila Kunis from 2002 until 2011 and was married to actress Rachel Miner.

In November 2017, TheBlast.com reported that Jackson’s estate planned to dedicate a museum to the singer. The site notes: “According to documents filed by Triumph International, the company that handles intellectual property for the MJ estate, ‘Neverland Ranch’ was registered on October 30 for a slew of entertainment purposes, including ‘operating museum and providing guided tours of the museum,’ and ‘non-downloadable musical performances, musical videos, film clips, photographs and other multimedia materials featuring music and/or visual representations of Michael Jackson.’”

Further, the site noted: “the people working on the project plan to incorporate items from the original home into the design, like the front gates to the [Neverland] ranch.”
