Man Walking In Woods Spots Rare Event Few Have Seen With A Snake, Gets 15 Minutes Of Fame

There is one major┬áthing┬áthat a person must be okay with if he/she wants to live in Australia and that is that they have to be accepting of all types of creatures because there is a good chance they are going to come face to face with reptiles and wild animals on a daily basis. Since reptile sightings are so common in Australia, it’s not rare for people to come across a snake or a lizard in the privacy of their own home.

It’s one thing to see these types of creatures out in the wilderness, but imagine seeing a snake make itself comfortable in a pile of your child’s toys. That’s exactly what one family experienced recently when they found a dangerous snake hanging around in the playroom.

Australia is certainly not the place you would want to live if you find such animals and reptiles appalling. But, if you are one of those who is fascinated by these types of sightings, then you will certainly thrive in the environment.

Question of the week: If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?

One of the latest animal encounters that is making headlines, happens to be a battle between a carpet python and a bat in Brisbane. The moment when the massive snake captures and pulls the bat up the tree was caught on video by Redland’s Snake Catcher, Tony Morrison.

You can see the entire incident from start to finish when the snake coils his beefy body around the bat, and with the expertise of a seasoned snake, pulls him up the tree with ease, before he attempts to have him for his meal. He tried to swallow him headfirst but you can see he has a bit of a struggle, as the bat’s pointed wings and sharp talons get in the way.

According to Morrison, the python eventually gave up on trying to eat the bat.

“The snake couldn’t get past the wings, so after half an hour he just dropped the bat on the ground,” said Morrison, who admitted that the carpet pythons are common for the are. Even though they aren’t usually a threat to humans, he moved the python to a safe place. “We eventually moved the snake down the road into bushland, because it was in an area where kids would cross to get to school.”

While the snake is an impressive size, the bat isn’t anything to sneeze at, as he’s far bigger than the bats seen in other parts of the world.

Overall, the outcome wasn’t great for either critter, considering the snake literally bit off more than he could chew and was left hungry in the long run. And the bat pretty much lost his life for no reason. Unless some other hungry creatures happen to stumble across it while out searching for food.

Commenters were impressed with the size of the animals…

“Wow… You Aussie’s have some Huge Bat’s!!!!!”

“Just need Steve Irwin to come along and tap the bat… yea mate, definitely a goner. Crikey! This snake’s getting really p off! I miss Steve Irwin.”
