In a series of controversial Snapchat posts, naval nurses were photographed flipping off newborn babies and using them in rap music dances. The registered nurses at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville have been removed from duty because they abused client and health provider trust when they used newborn babies for their own social media gains without the consent of the child’s parents. One of the outrageous images shows the nurse holding the newborn baby up and “making her dance to rap music.” Another Naval nurse flipped off a baby with the horrible caption, “How I feel about these mini Satans.” When these images went viral, the Navy quickly removed these horrible employees from duty. And they’ve launched an investigation to see who else was involved in the mistreatment of these newborn babies.
The two Naval nurses won’t be working for the American military or any other health care provider any time soon. The terrible images were originally uploaded to Snapchat. But someone later shared the blasphemous photos to Facebook because they were concerned that the Navy was treating hospital patients with so much insolence and disrespect.
While the first image that has the woman flipping the “mini Satan” the bird is bad enough, the second is also strange. This nurse is holding the infant up by its arms as she forces it to “dance” to 50 Cent’s song In Da Club. The baby is not enjoying the mistreatment.
In the video the nurse is laughing and joking with the mystery person behind the camera. The person filming then says, “we’re going to hell.” No one is arguing with that prediction.
The woman is holding the newborn – who is just a few hours old – under the arms. It is an aggressive hold that the baby does not like.
While the nurses play the explicit song, she moves the newborn’s limbs around trying to imitate rappers moving to the beat of the song.
The nightmarish images went viral. And thousands quickly reported the horror these Naval nurses were putting the babies through.
The hospital received the videos and images. Then they released the following statement on Facebook on Monday:
“We are aware of a video / photo posted online. It’s outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and cannot be tolerated. We have identified the staff members involved. They have been removed from patient care and they will be handled by the legal system and military justice. We’re in the process of notifying the patient’s parents.”
People were outraged to see the Naval nurses abusing the infants. Many called the inhumane treatment “cruel” and “disgusting.”
Jane Agerton, a nurse from Tennessee, was sickened, “They need to have their nursing license revoked. I am totally disgusted. How juvenile. Grow up.”
“As a former Navy daughter, Navy wife and mother of a child born at NAS JAX I am sicken by this behavior. I am sure that if I caught someone doing that to my child…your a** would have been grass under the lawn mower. Shame!” Joy Allen added.
