A long-standing tradition of the First Family is to issue a Christmas card to the people of the nation. Not the Obamas. They’ve just sent their final “holiday card” while in the White House and just like the previous seven, the card did not even mention the word Christmas.
Many conservatives and people who feel like this political correctness stuff has just gone too far have turned to social media to berate Barack Obama for preventing his family from using the word Christmas for fear of offending a minority of people in the country.
See what the President’s “holiday” card said and how conservatives like Sarah Palin are responding!
One of the first people to notice Obama’s exclusion of the word “Christmas” was Alaskan politician and former Vice Presidential nominee, Sarah Palin.
She logged onto Twitter on December 10 to mock the president writing: “’Merry Christ… er… scratch that. ‘We Are the Obamas and It’s Some Random Holiday!’”
Although Barack Obama and his family proclaim a Christian faith, throughout his presidency he has been avoiding and seemingly taking Christmas away from Americans. You’ll never hear Obama say Merry Christmas or even use the word when he thinks it could offend someone.
This is what Obama wrote in his 2016 holiday card:
As our family reflects on our many happy years spent in the White House, we are grateful for the friends we’ve made, the joy we’ve shared, and the gifts of kindness we’ve received. We wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season and a wonderful new year.
Compared to his predecessor, President Obama does not seem Christian. When George W. Bush was in office, he included Bible verses on his Christmas cards. But Obama isn’t the first president to use a generic holiday greeting card.
For example, it 1929 Herbert Hover’s card did not mention Christmas either. President John F. Kennedy refused to use the word Christmas in his cards until 1963.
President-elect Trump claims he will end the so-called “war on Christmas” that has been an unspoken Obama agenda for the last eight years.
Trump claims, “we’re going to start saying Merry Christmas again.”
“So when I started 18 months ago, I told my first crowd in Wisconsin that we are going to come back here someday and we are going to say merry Christmas again,” he said to cheers in Wisconsin on Tuesday. “Merry Christmas. So, merry Christmas everyone. Happy New Year, but merry Christmas. And I am here today for one main reason: to say thank you to the people of Wisconsin.”
