One of the downfalls of social media is that if you make one mistake, it can be blasted all over the world in no time. This is especially evident for businesses that make money off of happy paying customers.
Some Dominoes workers have recently given a bad name to the pizza store in Paris, Texas. While some nurses were working a long shift at the Paris Regional Hospital, they decided to order a pizza from their local Dominoes. As nurses hours are typically outside of the typical 9-5 hours, it had been late into the night when they finally had a chance to eat. As if they weren’t already exhausted and stressed from the long shift taking care of others, the Dominoes employees left a nasty note on the receipt when the pizza was delivered…
“Thanks! We would appreciate it VERY much if you didn’t wait 5 minutes before we close.”
Yikes. Not the best business behavior in the world.
Unfortunately for Dominoes, the request on the receipt went viral not long after it was received by the disappointed nurses. One of their friends, Kerry Miller, posted it on social media alongside the following comment…“Nurses work long hours and eat when they can as they take care of our loved one. A business is open until they close and are in business to

After the note went viral, a company spokesperson stated the following…
“We do not condone or encourage this kind of behavior or one-sided ‘dialogue’ with our customers.”
Miller, who is very upset by the tone used by the employees, is making it her mission to spread the word about the poor customer service. She wants it to be known that nurses work long, hard hours to take care of our loved ones and that they deserve to be able to order food when they want it, especially when the business was open. One would think that a business would want the extra order, so they could make the money, even though it’s at the end of the night.
Commenters had a field day with voicing their opinions on this one…
“I’ve worked at a pizza joint in my college years so I understand completely why that happened. However, this is a management issue and was completely inappropriate. You are open til you’re closed or have a policy in place to circumvent this kind of thing. If I were the manager I would make the apology and counsel my employee of the inappropriateness and add, “‘That’s strike number one.'”
Surprisingly, a lot of people sided with Dominoes…
“If you ran a pizza business you would understand this. They probably just got done cleaning everything and have to get it all out again. I wouldn’t have answered the phone myself. There is nothing against the nurses here.”
“Because nurses work 24/7 doesn’t mean everybody else does….the Dominos staff came to work on time and expect to get off on time. Nurses, how many of you would get annoyed if your relief is running late!”
And then there were those who sided with the nurses…
“What a bunch of morons!!These nurses may one day save your life!! It’s only a goddamn pizza for heaven sake!! Nurses stay late beyond their shift many times!! Hope you’re never in the hospital or in the ER!!”
