When it comes to home improvement shows, it doesn’t get much better than Fixer Upper, the popular HGTV series with the adorable Gaines family.
Chip and Joanna Gaines became an overnight reality show sensation with their sweet family and charming chemistry, but some rumors began swirling that Joanna would be leaving the show to pursue other business ventures.
With the popularity of Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna began to expand their empire beyond just the home renovation and design game. The Gaines family now have retail stores, a line of home products, a book, and a magazine, but there were also rumors that Joanna would be leaving her HGTV roots to explore a beauty and skincare business.
Turns out, there’s no truth to that bit of gossip, with Joanna shutting it down, explaining, “You can’t believe everything you read.”
Earlier this year, in a post on her blog, Joanna noted: “So many things are happening right now and it feels like we are moving at the speed of light. At times, it’s even hard to keep our own parents in the loop.”
She added: “At this point in our career we can honestly say, we’ve heard it all — from reports of us moving our family to Vegas to us having more or less children than we actually have…At the end of the day, we’ve learned it’s impossible to control all the information that’s out there.”
While the news of her leaving Fixer Upper spread, Joanna offered this bit of advice: “Always remember: If you’re reading big, exciting news about us, and we did not confirm it on our official sites, then proceed with caution.”
She also nimbly confirmed that she’s still on the show while shooting down yet another rumor that’s been swirling about her and Chip possibly expanding their family. To that, she explained: “We are so thankful for your support—we wouldn’t be here without you! And just in case you were wondering, YES! We are currently filming Season 5 of the show. No! I am not getting into the business of facial creams. And No! We are not expecting baby #5. And no worries, believing some of these stories happens to the best of us.”
The couple recently purchased a historic café and will be re-opening the restaurant later this year.
Joanna recently explained on her blog: “We’ve spent a good amount of time finalizing the design of the new restaurant- from carefully choosing finishes, textures, and paint colors, to designing the tables, chairs, and light fixtures. I love getting to bring all of the design details together.”
She added: “The building was actually recognized as a historic landmark about 20 years ago, which essentially ensures that aspects of the original character stay intact. Figuring out how to restore the building and seamlessly incorporate new and creative design elements into the mix while staying true to the original features has been one of my favorite parts of the design process.”
Joanna continued, “We want the name of our restaurant to convey the idea that all are welcome here. Our hope is that when you step into this place, you know that everyone has a seat at our table.” The restaurant will be called Magnolia Table.
