One armed robber was quite shocked when his victim pulled out a gun and shot at him.
Twenty-nine-year-old Sanchez Quinn attempted to rob two men and held them at gunpoint outside a Detroit supermarket. But, Quinn was quite taken aback when one of the victims turned out to be a concealed pistol license holder and took out a gun of his own and opened fire.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage and you can see the shocking incident unfold.
It starts out with Quinn walking toward a man on the sidewalk. He’s aiming his gun at the man, and the victim knocks the gun out of Quinn’s hand in one rapid movement, then he turns toward him while pulling out his own gun. Meanwhile, the victim’s cousin was close behind and got caught in the middle of the crossfire.
“I turned and looked and saw the other gentleman had a gun pointed at my face,” the unidentified victim said. “I was able to knock his hand down and the gunfire rang out.”
Quinn was later arrested by police and he is currently recovering in the hospital. The second victim somehow got caught in the crossfire and he is said to be recovering as well.
In Michigan, where the incident happened, concealed pistol license holder must be legal residents, 21 years of age and free of any felonies. As being ranked as the most violent large city in the United States, Detroit saw more murders last year than Los Angeles, which is also list as one of the most violent cities to live. Last year 13,705 violent crimes including rapes, murders, robberies, and assaults were committed in Detroit, which rose by 15.7 percent from the previous year.
The fact that the victim’s life was saved due to the fact that he was carrying a concealed firearm, is a big win for those who are pro-gun. There has been an ongoing controversy over whether or not guns should be more restricted. This is a perfect example of how a responsible gun owner was able to put his weapon to good use and his life was eventually saved because of it. Surely, carrying a concealed weapon would come in handy in a city like Detroit, where crime rates are so high.
This incident may cause a lot of city dwellers to get their concealed weapon permits, as it shows just how much safer it is for some to be carrying. The scary part is that this incident unfolded right in front of a supermarket, where several other people were coming and going. Innocent people could’ve gotten struck by one of the two weapons that were being fired.
Quinn wasn’t too bright to commit such a crime outside a supermarket where cameras are a given, especially in an area like Detroit. In addition to making a major mistake and choosing the wrong victim, Quinn must not be the sharpest tool in the shed. Hopefully, he doesn’t gamble like this in the future because it’s obvious what happens when you don’t know your potential victim.
