Store Owner Finds Stray Dog, Rescues Him And Makes Him A Greeter. Now Business Is Booming

Updated March 20, 2017

When a dog named Negao was left to die at a Brazilian gas station, he was lucky to stumble upon a person willing to show him some love.

The owner of the Shell gas station in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazila, Sabrina Plannerer saw the dog wandering around. She didn’t see the person who left him to die, but the dog was terrified of being alone. The caring individual knew that she couldn’t kick him off her property – he was just too afraid to go anywhere else.

With no one in the world to love him, Plannerer did the only thing she knew to do. She and her partner took Negao in and adopted him.

And now this canine has found new purpose as a gas station employee. Check out the pictures below!

We adopted him immediately and got him all the care animals need,” she told The Dodo. “We took him to the vet to get vaccinated and de-wormed. We bought him food, a dog house, and a leash to take him on walks.”

Because Plannerer and her partner were often busy with the gas station, they didn’t want to leave the newly adopted dog at home alone. So they brought him along to the gas station every time they went into work.

As the owners of the station, they promoted Negao to gas station greeter. And because he was a friendly dog, he would approach customers, with his tail wagging, to help give them a smile.

At first, Plannerer and her partner doubted that Negao would be good at his job. He was an abandoned dog with a dark past. He had been left to die. Would he be able to let that go and allow himself to be happy and friendly?

But their worries were unfounded. As soon as they made him the station’s greeter, he got to work bringing joy to the customers’ lives.

“Negão waits for people to arrive, and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms,” Plannerer told The Dodo. “Customers love him. Some people even bring him toys.”

Because Negao is an awesome employee, he started receiving benefits, a 401k match, and paid-time-off. Only kidding!

But he was promoted to the face of the Brazilian animal charity group called Group FERA. Because the pup now has a loving home – and a full-time job – the spokesperson for the charity is ecstatic. Negao faired a lot better than many other dogs abandoned by their previous owners.

“It’s been sensational, encouraging people to have more respect for animals,” Group FERA told The Dodo. “And workers enjoy having the companionship of a 4-legged colleague.”

Because Negao has become a popular fixture at the gas station, he has been given an orange cap, a Shell gas-station employee badge that is clipped to his collar, and freedom to walk around the property.

Often Negao lounges on the concrete while customers come in and out. And he lets every friendly visitor pet him.

Check out the slideshow video below. You can get a look at Negao while he works and sees how much he is loved. His new owners are treating him so much better than the shmuck who abandoned him at the gas station.
