When young people feel like there are no consequences to what they do, they are apt to do anything. And this includes being very disrespectful to other people and their property. In my part of town, a lot of college students rent apartments. Because their parents are paying for it, they don’t care if they rack up thousands of dollars in parking tickets or cause a disturbance. The consequence ultimately falls on the parents because they’re the ones who signed the lease. Teenagers and young adults without responsibility are entitled and expect the world to be handed to them on a silver platter. But one tattoo artist took the law into his own hand when he caught a young man stealing. Now he’ll never forget about what he did.
After the tattoo artist caught the young man stealing, he didn’t call the police. Instead, he took out his ink needle and administered a tough form of street justice. While many people do not agree that the lifetime of shame the young man will be forced to endure is a fair price to pay, few can argue with the punishment’s effectiveness.
The teen had stolen a bicycle from a man with one leg when the tattoo artist Maycon Wesley corned him. The tattoo artist then say the terrified teen on a chair and filmed himself as he tattoo the punishment into the young man’s forehead.
The complete tattoo included five words, written in Portuguese, which are: Eu sou ladrão e vacilão. This translates to “I am a thief and a loser.”
After he tattoos the teen’s forehead, the artist asks him if he likes it.
As you can see from the video, the teen is terrified. Someone could have been holding a gun on him in the background for all we know. And after he received this tattoo on his forehead on Friday in Brazil, he went missing.
When the thief’s family saw the video online, which went viral, they told the police. The next day, police arrested Wesley and his co-conspirator Ronildo Moreira de Araujo – the man whose voice you hear in the video – and charged the duo with torture.
Both Wesley and Araujo admit they tortured the boy but released him shortly after the tattoo. They claim to not know where he is.
The internet has had a mixed reaction to this form of street justice. Here are a few comments shared on Daily Mail:
“That is just awful!!! Look at the poor boy’s reaction, absolute devastation!!! They could have just turned him over to the authorities!!! They are pure BULLIES!!!!!!”
“Ugh, tattoo artist needs to go to jail!!! He committed various crimes against the poor kid!! So despicable!”
“the tattoo artist should have ‘i am a bully’ tattooed on his forehead.”
“The good news is that idiots keep recording themselves [committing crimes] and get caught.”
What do you think about how this tattoo artist punished the thief? Who is the real criminal here?
