The Boy Scouts Just Made An Announcement That Has Many Americans Fuming

Updated October 13, 2017

Millions of young men have been brought up through the Boy Scouts, whose motto, “Be Prepared” has shaped our youth into strong, ready men. However, the Boy Scouts of America just made an announcement that has many Eagle Scouts wanting to turn in their badges.

The Boy Scouts of America have been around for one hundred years and prided itself on teaching young boys family values and how to take care of themselves and their families in nature. Young men learned how to interact with their peers in stressful situations, and how to overcome adversity by working together.

Earlier this year, the Boy Scouts announced that they would allow openly gay children to join. Then they began allowing girls who identified boys to join. The latest announcement is that they are allowing girls to join the Boy Scouts.

Many people wonder why the girls can’t just join the Girl Scouts of America, but supporters of the decision say that Girl Scouts isn’t for everyone. There are lots of girls who want to learn to camp over crafts, and they feel that the Boy Scouts is a better place for them. However, what effect will this have on the boys? Will they be able to act as they would if the girls were not present?

The Boy Scouts of America website posted this notice on their website:

“Today, the Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors unanimously approved to welcome girls into its iconic Cub Scout program and to deliver a Scouting program for older girls that will enable them to advance and earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout.”

Some people believe the decision is motivated by money. Membership in the Boy Scouts has been dropping in recent years, and by allowing girls to join, they are doubling the number of potential recruits.

Is this the end of the Boy Scouts? Tell us what you think about this decision in the comments below!
