They Knew Her Baby Was Going To Be Big But When They Finally Read The Scale, They All Gasp

Now that’s a big baby.

Florida mom Christine Corbitt knew that she was going to have a big baby as she got closer to her due date, but she wasn’t expecting just how big she actually was.

Christine’s first two children weighed nine and ten pounds each, and her expectation was another child weighing in that range. With gestational diabetes, however, her doctor noted that a bigger baby was to be expected.

Christine told WJAX: “Towards the end of my pregnancy, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. She’s just so huge.'”

She added, “I’ve had nine- and 10-pound babies and I figured maybe she’d be 10 pounds. I’d have another 10-pound baby, but she was a surprise.”

Her doctor said this is the largest baby he has delivered, noting the scene during delivery: “When the baby was coming out, I was like, ‘Is this baby ever going to end?’ Everybody in the room kind of just stopped during the delivery and was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.'”

The baby, named Carleigh, was in the NICU for a bit while her blood sugar levels were checked, but was confirmed to be a healthy (albeit very large) baby.

In this Inside Edition coverage of Christine’s big baby, she explained her first look at Carleigh, saying, “When the pediatrician showed her to me across the curtain, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s huge.'”

She added, “I couldn’t believe it. It was like I delivered a toddler.”

Christine’s husband added that during pregnancy, “My wife wasn’t getting any bigger, she was the same weight for about a month.” Her baby bump, however, was reaching epic proportions, as he explained, “But the belly was getting bigger and bigger. It was like she had a huge beach ball and it was getting more and more inflated.”

Christine noted that when she had a C-section a week early, “I heard everybody cheering in the operating room. I’ve never had that happen before.”

Her husband added that they “went out with a bang,” as his wife had her tubes tied and this is their last child.

To put Carleigh’s size in perspective, at 3 weeks old, she was wearing clothes for a nine month old baby!

The newborn clothes they had before she arrived didn’t fit, with Carleigh’s dad explaining, “All the stuff we bought leading up to her being born, we just donated to a local church.”

Despite her size, Carleigh is happy and healthy, with mom noting, “She’s just a happy baby, she smiles all the time. I can’t get enough of her.”

Those weighing in in the comments section of the Inside Edition video were amazed by this big baby, with one noting: “she’s not fat she’s just filled with love. that’s what my mom says when people call babies chubby.”

Another wondered: “But she’s cute…I just wonder how some babies get that big?” One commenter explained that “some moms have health issues. Gestational diabetes is one that makes the baby grow big.”

This commenter was smitten, writing: “I wanna pick her up and snuggle omg she’s like so big and looks sooo cuddly OMAR GOSHHHHHHH.”
