When you master the following recipe, you’ll be able to take the ingredients to table in less than 30 minutes with an amazing, hearty portion of beef stroganoff. Talk about one of the best comfort foods there are. With egg noodles topped with sirloin steak and a creamy mushroom sauce, this dish is a stable for anyone looking to impress.
But this recipe includes is “spiked” with a couple ingredients that you’ll want added to every subsequent beef stroganoff dish – mustard and brandy.

With just 10 minutes of prep and 20-30 minutes of cooking, you can have beef stroganoff ready in a less than an hour.
Here are the ingredients you need to make this heart dinner staple:
-1 pound sirloin steak
-kosher salt to taste
-ground black pepper to taste
-1 tbsp. olive oil
-3 tbsp. butter, divided
-1 cup diced onion
-1/2 pound small cremini mushrooms, halved
-2-3 garlic cloves, minced
-1/3 cup brand, cognac, or other aged spirit including wine
-1 ½ cups beef stock
-1 tbsp. soy sauce
-1 ½ tsp. Dijon mustard
-2 tbsp. cornstarch
-1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
-1/4 cup chopped parsley, optional for garnish
-egg noodles, cooked and buttered
First, slice the sirloin into strips. Then season it with salt & pepper.
Heat the olive oil and 1 tbsp. butter in a heavy skillet over medium high heat. Lay the steak strips down in a single layer. Flip after 1 minute and sear them for another 2 minutes. Transfer the steak to another plate.
Add 2 tbsp. butter and cook the onions until they become translucent about 2-4 minutes. Then add the mushrooms and some salt. Cook for about 5 minutes. Then add the garlic and cook until it is fragrant.
Deglaze the pan by adding the brandy. Scrape off the browned bits. Let this cook for 2-4 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the beef broth, soy sauce, mustard and cornstarch. Wait until smooth then set aside.
Add the broth mix into the skillet. Stir until combined. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
When it has thickened, add the sour cream until everything is nice and combined.
Finally, return the steak to the hot pan and cook 2 minutes.
Serve the steak and sauce over cooked and buttered egg noodles.
