This Is The Type Of Story About Cops The Mainstream Media Should Cover But They Don’t (video]

Updated July 10, 2017

The Fourth of July was sweltering in most parts of the country, and while we all wanted to celebrate our nation’s birthday, it was also an opportunity for some wet fun. Two North Carolina cops are internet darlings today after they responded to a noise complaint and wound up frolicking on a water ride like a pair of big bears in a pool. You are going to love this video of cops being human when you watch it.

Asheville, North Carolina police officers Joe Jones and Carrie Lee were dispatched to investigate a noise complaint on July Fourth. When they arrived on the scene, they found neighborhood kids sloshing around that summertime favorite, a “Slip and Slide.”

Asheville Police public information officer Christina Hallingse said “The officers got there and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, the cops are here. They’re going to shut us down,’ but they noticed the noise was fine. It was literally the sound of kids playing. The Slip ‘N Slide they noticed was so far off the street that cars and emergency vehicles could still pass through so it was perfectly fine and they decided to join in on the fun. There were no citations issued.”

Travis Eagledove, one of the neighbors who caught the cops frollicking, said “They had such good energy. All the kids were loving it.”

Apparently it was Officer Lee that decided to cool off first. Neighbor Katlen Joyce Smith said “When the female officer asked for a garbage bag, we almost didn’t believe it. But she took off her radio and went for it! They told us to have a great day, posed for some pictures and thanked us for the fun!”

You can hear Officer Jones say “My butt is wet,” near the end of the video.

Officer Hallingse said “He thought he was going to away with it because he couldn’t fit in a trash bag but then a little boy ran and got a big raft.”

Eagledove also said Jones had the best ride of all three days. “He was the only one that made it all the way from the top to the bottom. It was the best slide from the three days of it being there. That was the only time, even out of the all the adults and everybody, that’s the only time the inner tube made it from all the way to the bottom.”

People who have seen this video have fallen in love with the two officers and their playfulness, leaving comments such as:

“when cops act like this they show how human they are and that kids need not fear them. if we teach our kids not to fear the police and listen they will respect them when they get older. that being said cops need to be more like this and not always have the attitude many have for no reason other than to act tough.”- TheU

“Slip n slide!!! Good ol American summer fun. Great story!”- Bckchk

“Thank you Officers Lee and Jones. You will never know just how much good that you did on that call. Both adults and children will remember that all the days of their lives. Great work. God bless you and the people that you serve.”- Smagnet
