A Tennessee woman attached her 1-month-old daughter to the train of her wedding dress. Now she’s under fire for bad parenting from thousands of people across social media.
Because she wanted her daughter to be part of the wedding, Shona Carter-Brooks and her husband Johnathan Brooks tied their infant to the back of the wedding dress and dragged the baby across the floor…
While some attendees thought the bride’s decision to tie the baby and drag it across the floor was a sweet gesture, once the video went viral, Carter-Brooks received harsh abuse from critics everywhere.
Despite what some called child abuse, the bride defended her decision and posted this to Facebook:
“The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine,” said Carter-Brooks on her Facebook page. “Our 1 month old was awake and well secured on my train. Most important while yall got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!! So keep ya mouths running for it was just that Exclusive and Epic enough we made top blog way from small town Ripley, TN and the social media doing what they do, TALK!!!!”
After the newlywed couple received a social media bashing, one family friend turned to Facebook to defend and praise how the couple treated the newborn girl.
“Shona and Johnathan Brooks your wedding was super perfect from the groom and his men and you and your diva’s baby you rock the gown and the princess tagging behind you it brought tears to my eyes,” wrote the friend. “Regardless of anybody else dream your’s came true. I loved it and thank you for inviting me.”
