Video: When Mom Gets Her First Snuggle With Newborn Baby The Doctors’ Jaws Hit The Floor

Following the challenges of pregnancy and labor, when the baby finally arrives, it’s all worth any pain and discomfort experienced throughout the whole process. Women endure quite a lot carrying and nurturing a baby, followed by the pain of labor and childbirth, and when their little one enters the world, the bonding begins. This video perfectly illustrates just how magical that first moment of contact can be.

A Brazilian woman named Brenda Coelho de Souza is seen holding her newborn for the first time and though her daughter, Agata Ribeiro Coehlo, is just moments old following her birth via C-section, she and Brenda share their first contact. And the baby doesn’t want to let go!

Brenda holds her baby for the first time, as Agata snuggles closer to her mom, hugging her face. They are definitely happy to meet in person.

The Canadian Breastfeeding Foundation says of this skin to skin contact: “There are now a multitude of studies that show that mothers and babies should be together, skin to skin, immediately after birth.” They add: “The baby is happier, the baby’s temperature is more stable and more normal, the baby’s heart and breathing rates are more stable and normal, and the baby’s blood sugar is more elevated.”

Brenda explained: “It was an incredible moment when my daughter hugged me for the first time.” It’s clear that Agata wants to be right there with mom, as a nurse tries to pull her away and she becomes very emotional, wanting to stay longer.

Her mother talks to her throughout the hug, which is probably what makes that bond so strong right out of the gate. Parenting.com explains: “By the time they’re born, babies can actually recognize their mother’s voice,” adding, “In one study, doctors gave day-old infants pacifiers that were connected to tape recorders. Depending on the babies’ sucking patterns, the pacifiers either turned on a tape of their mother’s or that of an unfamiliar woman’s voice. The amazing result: Within 10 to 20 minutes, the babies learned to adjust their sucking rate on the pacifier to turn on their mother’s voice.”

Definitely amazing.

Among the many comments the YouTube video received were plenty of viewers who were emotional by the touching moment between mother and child. One commenter noted: “That’s the best ever gift she will ever have. New born baby hug. Priceless.”

Another commenter added: “My GOD, I can’t stop watching this. Beautiful moment, priceless. The mom will cherish this for the rest of her life.”

One commenter noted that it’s amazing to have something like this preserved on video forever: “I bet momma is so happy this is on tape. I had a cesarian too, the first time your baby interacts with you is a very special feeling. I bet her heart melted.”

Other people chimed in as well, with comments such as: “I don’t know, why tears in my eyes, while watching this video,” “It’s an amazing moment for every mom,” “Wow looking soo cute. God bless you,” and “That moment can’t replace any thing in woman’s life.”
