This girl’s graduation dress was the ultimate surprise for her grandmother.
The grandmother had given the girl, named Cassie, one of her dresses when she was little to use for “dress up.” The dress was kept over the years and grandma Dottie got the surprise of a lifetime years later at the girl’s graduation.
Dottie had worn the dress to her prom when she was a teenager.
Cassie’s aunt captured the moment she surprised Dottie, explaining in the YouTube description: “Our niece was given this dress when she was a little girl for ‘dress up’ but they decided to keep it nice in the closet. She decided to wear it for her high school graduation night. It was her grandma Dottie’s prom dress from 57 years earlier and Grandma had no idea that she still had it, and was going to wear it for grad night. Needless to say there were lots of tears from everyone!”
Further, her aunt told AOL News: “When it came time for graduation, Cassie decided she already had her dress picked out and we were told about it, but it was kept a secret from Grandma Dottie. While visiting for the graduation ceremony, Dottie kept asking to see her dress and she was told it wasn’t at the house but at one of Cassie’s friends houses.”
The sweet reveal was a big surprise for Dottie, who put her face in her hands and cried happy tears before getting a hug from Cassie during the emotional moment.
Those weighing in in the YouTube comments section loved the moment, with oner person writing: “Even now, her grandmother is still one beautiful lady. I can just imagine how beautiful she must have looked when she wore that dress to her prom. What a truly wonderful and memorable gift to give to her grandmother. Next up, grandmother’s wedding dress. Bet that’s just as beautiful and timeless as her prom dress.”
One person noted: “By the way, your grandma has great taste. That dress is timeless. Looks beautiful !!,” while another echoed the sentiment, writing: “Her grandma had good taste. The dress looked great on her. Very classy looking and elegant. I wish they made dresses like they used to.”
Another person commented: “I would love to see a picture of the Grandma in that dress too. Such a special memory for the both of them.” This person agreed, writing: “The granddaughter looks as beautiful as I’m sure the grandmother did when she wore it. What a lovely thing to do. Wish there was a picture of the grandmother wearing the dress.”
While Cassie’s surprise was special, many couldn’t get over how gorgeous the dress is – vintage is a beautiful thing – with one person noting: “That is a beautiful dress, It looks like a Dior or some designer in the blush pink. It also seems that grandma has a lovely figure just like her grand daughter. Compared to some of the dresses today, this is classic and beautiful may she wear it in good health.”
