A Michigan woman just learned why you never should mess with the law. Because she decided that something was funny during a court proceeding, she got slammed extra hard. But she wasn’t just told to be quiet, they kicked her straight out of the room.
The incident happened during a court proceeding during the sentencing of someone who killed another while driving under the influence.
Amanda Kosal awaited the judge’s sentence on June 23, 2016 after killing 31-year-old Jerome Zirker. Kosal had previously been found guilty of driving under the influence and was going to get 3-15 years behind bars.
While Judge Qiana Lillard was about to sentence the drunk driver, she noticed that two of Kosal’s family members, who were in court that day, started laughing and smiling during the sentencing.
Like any good judge, Lillard was outraged. Because they simply would not stop making light of a tragic case, Lillard ordered the one Michigan woman out of her courtroom.
“It’s time for him to go. And I don’t know who he is, but whoever can sit here at a tragic moment like this and laugh and smile when someone has lost a family member…in the entire time that Mr. Zirker’s sister was speaking that clown, and that’s what I’m going to call him, a clown, was sitting there smiling and laughing,” Judge Lillard said.
But Lillard was hardly through teaching the disrespectful family member a lesson.
“And you can go, too. Because if you don’t know how to act, you can go to jail. So leave. Anybody that can sit there and laugh and smirk – take her, she’s going in the back – anybody else want to go? You can go too. This is a court of law,” the Judge said.
As she stormed out of the room, the Michigan woman smirked. Then Judge Lillard said:
“And these are very serious matters. I understand that you all are very upset because your loved one is going to prison but guess what, she’s going to prison for the choices that she made. These people are here grieving, saddened because a senseless act took away their loved one and you’re sitting here acting like it’s a joke?”
Then the Judge sentenced the laughing woman to jail time.
“Your disruptive and disrespectful behavior disrupted today’s proceedings, and you, ma’am, are going to the Wayne County jail for 93 days,” the judge commanded. “Anybody else want to go? Try it. Try it.”
The other members of the court cheered at the unexpected sentencing.
“Your mouth got you 93 days,” the judge said.
This incident has exploded around the internet. People are proud that this judge stood up to a disruptive, disrespectful person, and arrested her. Some comments about the incident include:
“YES!!! Bravo, Judge! Omigawd, I wish there was more of this in the world. This judge is my hero!” wrote a viewer on Rumble.com.
