Coach passengers were shocked as they walked through first-class aboard an American Airlines flight from Austin to JFK and saw one of America’s most prominent Democratic Socialists. The famed New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was seated in a first-class seat on the plane, which prompted someone to snap a photo of her during flight AA1405 on the Boeing 737-800 – showing the Democrat in the front row wearing a large mask and a baseball cap in an attempt to conceal her identity from the public around her.

Estimates published in the Daily Mail suggest that Ocasio-Cortez – or her campaign fund – would have had to pay $400 to $600 for a one-way first-class American Airlines flight from Austin to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on Sunday. If she had opted for an economy seat instead, she could have saved hundreds of dollars because those seats were estimated to cost between $300 and $400.

In addition to getting first-class treatment on the American Airlines flight, Ocasio-Cortez also got seven extra inches of legroom as well as a large twenty-one-inch wide seat.

“They would have received the choice of sandwich with salad, side, dessert. Alcohol offerings are available complimentary,” an airline rep told the Post regarding what first-class travelers on American Airlines get when they book with them.

Ocasio-Cortez’s decision to fly first class had shocked some people who knew her before she became a national figure. They proclaimed that her socialist views might be weakening as she gets access to the finer things in life like first-class airline tickets and luxury vacations.

“This is definitely different,” the insider informed the Post. “There has definitely been a shift in her desires to enjoy the finer things in life.”

Even Ocasio-Cortez’s fellow Democratic Congresspeople are surprised by her desire to fly first class from Austin to New York. The person said, “She lives above a Whole Foods and drives a Tesla, so she probably feels more at home upfront.”

Ocasio-Cortez was in Texas to endorse the former Austin City Council Member Greg Casar as he throws his hat in the ring in an effort to represent Texas’s 35th Congressional District in Washington D.C.

Republicans had a field day with Ocasio-Cortez’s visit to Austin, the state’s capital.

“We invite AOC to come to Texas as often as she can. Every time she comes to the Lone Star State, it’s a gift because she reminds Texans of how much they despise socialism,” a Republican National Committee spokesman said.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

The congresswoman has been outspoken about her disdain for flying and the carbon emissions that come with it.

“I fly *very* rarely – like maybe once or twice a year, bc it’s environmentally impactful,” she said in a now-deleted tweet from February. “I took this flight for environmental reasons too. If we want to talk about priorities, climate crisis should be at the top.”

Some people are accusing Ocasio-Cortez of hypocrisy after she was photographed flying first class on American Airlines while preaching about the negative environmental effects of flying.

“Hypocrite, much? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasts’ environmentally destructive habits’ of air travel in February – then is caught on camera flying first class just two months later,” reads a headline from The Daily Caller.
