It was a shock. Over the weekend, television presenter Erin Jayne Plummer “suddenly” passed away at the young age of just forty-two. Plummer was best known for her appearances hosting advertorials on Studio 10 as well as programs on the shopping channel TVSN. Studio 10 announced the young presenter’s death on Monday while fellow hosts Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop sang the praises of their beloved co-host, who is survived by her three daughters.
Bishop and Harris said that Plummer was a “gorgeous” television personality who always “brightened up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile.”
In addition to her three children, Plummer is also survived by her husband.
Besides her work with infomercials, Plummer also presented for Aerobics Oz Style for six years during her career. The program provided aerobics content for the television audience and was on the air from 1982 to 2005. At the program’s peak in popularity, it had a global audience of more than forty million people and was broadcasted across the entire world to more than eighty countries that devoured the good work Plummer did leading the charge.
Plummer was a proud Australian. Besides being a successful television presenter, she also could hold her own as a synchronized swimmer. She represented her home country of Australia in three world championships and earned herself eleven national titles during her time in the pool.
While she appeared in various advertorials throughout her career, she will be best remembered for her time working with Studio 10, TVSN, Mornings with Kerri-Anne, and The Morning Show, which are all popular channels in Australia.
Plummer sold various products to the masses, including steam mops, massage chairs, slimming jeans, and workout programs. In addition to her time in front of the camera, she also did behind-the-scenes work providing many voice-overs for television.
When Studio 10 presenter Sarah Harris announced Plummer’s death on Monday, she said: “We’ve got some really sad news to share this morning. Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a bit of its sparkle, with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.
“For two decades, Erin has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian telly, and for a lot of that, she’s been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile. Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out, and if it wasn’t for TV, perhaps Erin may have had a sporting career.
“She represented Australia in synchronized swimming and even surf lifesaving, and there’s no question that Erin Jayne was a high achiever, and certainly a gold-medal mum to her three young girls… We’ll miss your sunshine around the studio, Erin Jayne, and all of us here are sending lots of love and strength to her family. You’ll be very missed.”
