After dozens of women came out against Harvey Weinstein with allegations of sexual misconduct and rape, Goodfellas actor Paul Sorvino had a special message for the film producers. Because Weinstein blackballed Sorvino’s daughter Mira, he said that Weinstein better hope to be put in jail rather than come across the actor because if he did, he would be killed for what he did to Mira.
And after hearing her father stand up for her, Mira could not be prouder to have a dad who protects her.
Now Mira Sorvino has come forward to express her love for her father after Paul threatened Harvey Weinstein’s life.
“My love for my father has only continued to grow since this moment. All the love in my heart!” she wrote on Twitter. “He is the most loving father, the most brilliant actor, the most beautiful operatic tenor, the most talented visual artist- the wisest and most human advice giver, & best Grandpa ever!!”
On Tuesday, TMZ tracked down the Goodfellas actor while he was in Los Angeles. And they harassed him until he answered their questions. They wanted his response to reports that Harvey Weinstein destroyed Oscar-winning actress Mira’s chances of working with famed directors including Peter Jackson after she refused Weinstein’s unwanted sexual advances.
Paul Sorvino had a direct message for the disgusting sexual predator.
“He better hope that he goes to jail. Because if we come across [each other], I think he will be lying on the floor,” said Sorvino. “He’s gonna go to jail that son of a b****. And good for him if he goes, because if he not, he has to meet me. And I will kill that motherf*****.”
Until the interview with Mira was published in The New Yorker last year, he had no idea that Weinstein had single-handedly destroyed the young woman’s career.
“If I had known it, he would not be walking, he would be in a wheelchair,” the Goodfellas star said.
He was “furious” when he learned that Weinstein had blackballed his daughter after she refused his sexual advances.
“My daughter is a wonderful and courageous human being. And doesn’t deserve to be treated this way by this pig.”
Mira said Weinstein started trying to engage her sexually back in 1995. That was back when she was promoting her Woody Allen movie “Mighty Aphrodite.” Despite denying Weinstein, she went on to win an Oscar.
Because Weinstein blackballed her, he destroyed her career.
“There may have been other factors, but I definitely felt iced out and that my rejection of Harvey had something to do with it,” said the actress.
Compared to other victims, Mira said that her story “pales in comparison” to the horrors Weinstein inflicted on them.
Peter Jackson remembers when Weinstein trashed Mira when he was interviewing her for the Lord of the Rings films.
“I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs. This was probably in 1998,” said Jackson. “At the time, we had no reason to question what these guys were telling us – but in hindsight, I realize that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing. I now suspect we were fed false information about both of these talented women – and as a direct result their names were removed from our casting list.”
