It Only Takes 2 Glasses Of This Popular Drink Per Day To Kill You

In a massive study that included more than 450,000 people, researchers found that drinking more than two diet drinks per day increased the risk of dying prematurely. If you want to live longer, you may want to ditch sodas and other such drinks. According to the study from the World Health Organization, it takes just two glasses of diet drinks per day to increase your risk of dying earlier than other people – that’s less time to enjoy life and be with your family.

The study followed hundreds of thousands of people from ten countries across the globe for nearly two decades. The researchers found that people who drank any type of soft drink were at a higher risk of death – especially as a younger person.

But people who drank diet beverages instead of their full-sugar counterparts were at an increased risk of dying younger. That’s a terrifying statistic for anyone who has turned to diet beverages as a “healthier” alternative. Maybe there’s something about the chemicals loaded into these drinks that manufacturers are not telling consumers.

Scientists from the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer believe it is “prudent” that people cut all soft drinks out of their lives and consume water instead.

Sugar taxes might not be as useful as hoped. While consuming excess sugar increases obesity rates, high-taxed sugar drinks might drive people to “sugar-free,” which have long-term health implications that could be even more disastrous. And if this data reveals anything, it is that the effects of diet drinks are more harmful than previously believed.

Another group of health experts, the European Society of Cardiology in Paris, has urged people to “eliminate” soft drinks from their diet. That includes full-sugar and diet drinks and juices.

This study is the largest ever to examine the link between soft drink consumption and mortality. The research found that people who drink two or more glasses of diet sodas and drinks per day faced a 26 percent increased risk of dying within just 16 years. Diet soda drinkers also increased their risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 52 percent.

If someone has two or more sugary soft drinks in a day, they increase their risk of dying prematurely by eight percent.

Dr. Neil Murphy, the study leader, said: “The striking observation in our study was that we found positive associations for both sugar-sweetened and artificially-sweetened soft drinks with risk of all-cause deaths.”

Although Dr. Murphy is “unclear” why diet drinks are so deadly, he thinks that artificial sweeteners “may induce glucose intolerance and trigger high blood insulin levels.

He added, “Additional studies are now needed to examine the long-term health consequences of specific artificial sweeteners that are commonly used in soft drinks, such as aspartame and acesulfame potassium.”

This study can be alarming for people who drink soda, but the evidence is clear. Drinking soft drinks is dangerous for your health.

In conclusion, if you want to live a longer life cut out all soft drinks (sugar and artificially-sweetened) from your diet. It could add years to your life.
