When a couple finds out they are going to have a baby, it can be the start to so many wonderful moments that will turn into well-loved memories. From the time a woman is pregnant, she is thrown into an unknown world that is filled with a bit of anxiety and a lot of exciting instances that shape the mom she will become. From shopping for those first maternity clothes to see the baby on the ultrasound for the first time, a new baby has a tendency to transform entire families, as these little lives bring so much love amongst grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings.
One mom was in the midst of planning for her new baby, when she decided to cancel her baby shower, all because of what she decided to name her baby. Unfortunately, people like to give their opinions even when it’s none of their business and new moms are very familiar with others budding into their lives. After this particular mom announced that she planned on naming her baby Squire Sebastian Senator, she received a lot of insults and family members questioning her mental stability.
Evidently, the name comes from a long line of history as both Squire and Senator are names that have been passed down.
The new mom was so furious that she canceled her baby shower in a post on Facebook, claiming that her fake family was judging and criticizing her unborn child and she no longer wants them to be a part of her baby’s life. She also said that she would have a small, baby shower with exclusive members who don’t judge her or her baby’s name.
“Y’all have been talking sh*t about my unborn baby. AN UNBORN CHILD,’ she wrote. ‘How can you judge an unborn child?? What is wrong with you??”
The unidentified woman is claiming that her family is accusing her of being drunk while she chose the name and that she is mentally unstable and she made it clear in the post that neither is true. She also said that she didn’t want to name her baby a regular name that everyone else uses like Brian, Nick, Mark, or Bella.
The Facebook post spread rapidly and several commenters are not siding with her. Some of the negative posts that she received include the following…
“No one’s talking s**t about your unborn baby, they are talking s**t about your poor naming choices.”
“This could be the first ever baby to run away from home before he’s born.”
One commenter told the mom to imagine herself with the name and growing up with it before she decides to name her own child with that name and several said that they predicted Squire Sebastian Senator would get teased and bullied when he was in school. Another commenter suggested that there be a law preventing parents from naming their children oddball names like this.
This certainly isn’t the first time a mom was mocked for her name choice. Just last month, a ticket agent at Southwest airline got in trouble for laughing at a child named “Abcde.”
