The teenage years can be pretty bizarre. Most people make some terrible decisions in those days, some of which can have effects far later in life. Few make it through unscathed, but even less end up doing something like this latest story. Security footage caught two teenagers on tape doing something that many would consider unspeakable; they urge their dog on to attack a defenseless cat.
Sully was a family cat, beloved by his Welsh family and friends all around the neighborhood. He recently became the victim in a horrific dog attack, but the other animal isn’t entirely to blame.
Two teenage boys were identified when investigators discovered the footage. The 17 and 15-year-olds have already been sentenced with a 12-month “referral order.” They admitted to the crime almost immediately upon being questioned.
It would have been one thing if the boys left the disgusting scene afterward. But they decided that the best course of action was to carry the poor cat’s body around and then throw it over a nearby fence.
These horrible boys might have gotten away with their despicable crime, if not for this key CCTV footage. Sully’s owners didn’t become worried about his absence for several days – apparently, he made a habit of spending time outside.
“We are absolutely heartbroken,” his owner told Mail Online. “Sully was so happy and was a member of our family. His killing by these cruel people brings shame to Methyr Tydfil. This was a heinous act.”
Sully’s family owned the camera that caught his death on tape, and all they had to do to see what happened was review the footage. They were terrified to discover that Sully didn’t just disappear – he was mauled.
“He was well-known and popular in the local area – always sitting on the path, he’d get petted and fussed by people walking along the lane and regular dog walkers all knew him,” the anonymous owner added.
The kids can be seen abusing the cat before the dog is set on him. The elderly cat didn’t stand a chance against their abusive efforts. One of the kids holds the dog’s collar at first, as the other urges the animal on verbally.
Optimists might imagine that the footage only shows the dog going under the car, but they would be wrong. Sully sprints up the street but the younger dog quickly gains ground. Seconds later, the poor cat is brutally murdered.
The kids then grab Sully and carry him around, much to his owner’s horror – and that of RSPCA inspector Gemma Cooper.
“It is frightening to think two children would set out to do something so deliberately cruel. It appears the dog had been trained to kill like this,” Cooper said. “This was a premeditated attack, seemingly done for the boys’ fun and pleasure, for which the RSPCA had to seek justice.”
“What I witnessed that day will never leave me – it was like watching one of my children being attacked,” his owner said.
