The world mourned the loss of Stephen “tWitch” Boss after news broke that Boss committed suicide. Boss’s suicide shocked his family as well as Ellen DeGeneres and fans of her show who knew him as the program’s DJ. Boss was found dead in a motel room in Encino, California, and the coroner has confirmed that his death was a completed suicide.

Boss’s death was ruled a suicide in part because he left a note at the scene. In his cryptic suicide note, Boss explained that he faced challenges that caused him to contemplate and eventually commit suicide in the motel room. Although Boss did not clarify what challenges he faced in his life, it can be understood that those challenges were extremely difficult for him to manage, which resulted in him deciding to take his own life to escape the challenges rather than face them.

Investigators in Boss’s suicide determined that he took an Uber ride within a mile of his house and then ordered the driver to drop him off. Once he completed the Uber ride, Boss switched his phone to airplane mode so his location could not be tracked.

By Tuesday morning, a motel worker found Boss’s body. He had killed himself with a gun and had a self-inflicted gunshot wound when his body was found by the motel worker. An autopsy was completed the following day, but the toxicology results from the autopsy are still pending.

Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s mom Connie Boss Alexander shared praise for her beloved son who lost his life much too early. She explained that she would be forever grateful to all of Boss’s fans who helped him have such a successful career.

Connie shared an update about her son’s passing in an Instagram story that she shared two days after he lost his life. Fans may be familiar with Connie because she had several appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show over the years.

“Family and friends, thank you for all the love, prayers, and encouragement,” Connie posted in her Story ( People). “Please know I see all the messages, texts, posts, and phone calls. I can’t use words right now. Please know I will reach out when I can. Please continue to keep us in your prayer. Stephen Laurel, your mother loves you to eternity and beyond.”

The day after Boss’s suicide was discovered, his wife, Allison Holker Boss, shared an update on social media about her late husband, who she loved dearly and was shocked by his suicide.

Allison Holker Boss told People magazine a statement following her husband’s death:

“Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and the light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband, and father, and an inspiration to his fans,” she said.

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”

Allison, 34, concluded: “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
