One mom was disgusted when she noticed a penis was drawn into a log on the animated children series “Maya the Bee.” The innocent show is geared toward teaching children about nature through a young bee named Maya. The sweet little bee takes her viewers on adventures that explore the beauty and mysteries of nature. Maya also shows off her friendly side in the series, as she is always meeting new insect friends along the way. But, evidently, one of the animators felt that it was time for Maya to run into a penis, as a drawing was discovered in episode 35 of the series, on a log that’s in the background of the scene.
When the mom who discovered the addition of the penis, posted her outrage on Facebook, parents everywhere soon became informed of the show’s lack of class. She shared the following comment…
“I know I’m not going crazy and I know that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever. I’m extremely disgusted by it, there should be no reason my kids have to see something like this. I don’t know if they’re gonna do something about this or what but there’s no reason why this should be on this show.”
Since the post went viral, the Maya the Bee episode has disappeared from the series.
There is no telling how or why the penis ended up on the show. Maybe it was one of the animators starting out their own game of “Hidden Pictures.” Or maybe, just maybe, it was a major accident. Was the penis meant to go on some other show?
The Belgium-based producer of the show stepped forward and apologized for the mishap after the outraged mom shared it with the world. The Studio 100 producer shared the following public apology…
“An absolutely inappropriate image has been discovered in a four-second fly-by scene in one episode of the total of 78 episodes of the series. The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production.”
Commenters weighed in on the mystery penis. Some felt that the parent was being a bit of a prude, while others felt that she deserved to fight for her child’s protection…
“I say thank God for these parents who want to protect their children from such stuff. It is not prudish. It is being a responsible parent.”
“Rigid” — as if that’s a bad thing when it comes to protecting one’s own child.”
