If you’ve ever worked in a fast food restaurant than you know how difficult it can be to work with pesky customers. And if you’ve ever been to a fast food restaurant as a customer, then you know what it can be like to have your food served to you by someone who isn’t happy to be standing on the other side of the counter.
Like most jobs, it’s never fun when you have to stay longer than planned on your shift. Nurses are a perfect example of a job that requires additional hours when unexpected events arise, and there are a whole lot of unpredictable events happening in hospitals every day. Like hospitals, some restaurants operate all hours of the night and workers are constantly being bothered by customers who come strolling into the door, just seconds before the restaurant closes for the evening.
It can be extremely frustrating when you are ready to leave after several hours on your feet serving others, but sometimes you have to just buck up and put your smile on.
One restaurant worker did the exact opposite when a customer came into the fast food restaurant looking for a sandwich at 3 am. The worker was obviously aggravated by the customer’s timing and didn’t try to hide her look of irritation. So, instead of planting a smile on her face, she decided to spit in the customer’s pita pocket. Talk about revenge.
It all starts with the belligerent customer challenging the worker to spit in her sandwich.
“Do you want me to?”
“I dare you,” the customer presses.
And so, the worker takes her up on the challenge, leans down and opens the pita pocket before spitting into it with angst. To make matters worse the worker climbs up on the counter after the customer tries to hit her from the other side.
“I was trying to be nice to you,” the customer says.
And the worker responds by saying, “We are closed, it’s 3:00 in the morning and I want to go home!”
So, it sounds like it was a case of the worker being too tired and annoyed to deal with another customer, however; there may be a history between these two, as they seemed to know exactly how to push each other’s buttons. The incident occurred in a Missoula, Montana pita shop and we are unsure whether the worker was fired as a result of the escalated violence.
Sleep is important, and it can be draining to deal with customer after customer for hours on end, especially when you are scheduled to go home and end your workday. But, on the other end of the spectrum, the saying goes that the customer is always right. In this case, both parties were pretty wrong, but the worker could’ve handled the situation with a bit more tact if she wanted to keep her job at least. It’s also interesting that the worker next to her is just going about his business making a sandwich as if this type of situation happens every evening.
