Although she is no longer in the spotlight as much as she was during her heyday during “All My Children,” 71-year-old Susan Lucci still does all she can to look as good as possible. Recently, she came forward to reveal her grueling workout routine, which involves hitting the gym and exercising six times per week. But for Lucci, the tough workouts are not a chore, they’re something she does because her body “craves it.”
Although she is in her seventies, Lucci has not lost her girlish figure. And in an interview with Women’s Health magazine, she revealed her secret to her good looks, which involve a healthy diet of whole foods and exercise six times per week.
“I try to take one day off because you’re supposed to take a day off,” Lucci said. “But I’ll always do something because I find my body craves it.”
So what exactly does Susan Lucci do to look so good? It’s really quite simple. It has to do with consistency and doing the work day in and day out. That’s how she gets the superb results that people envy.
“I like to work out first thing in the morning,” said the Emmy winner. “Because then I know, no matter what happens for the rest of the day, I’ve done something good for myself.”
While she was on Dancing with the Stars a few years ago, she started to work out even harder so she could be even more competitive on the reality show.
“I knew I’d have to step up my program, to get an even stronger core to be dancing on the show,” she said.
She loves her Pilates Pro Chair, which costs just $200 on QVC and is something you could get as well. Her exercises target her entire body including her butt, her abs, and her thighs. She does classic Pilates moves and tries to do “10 moves a day on this machine.” She goes for somewhere between 30 to 100 reps of each.
Although she looks great at seventy-one, the television star still wishes her body was a bit different. She joked about her desire to be taller.
“I want to be 5ft 8in,” she said. Right now she’s 5ft 1in. “And I’m hoping I can get there through stretching—right now I’m five foot two on a good day.”
