While he didn’t treat his wife well, unfortunately Johnny Carson didn’t treat his children any better. He had three sons with his first wife, Jody Wolcott. Their names are Christopher, Cory, and Richard.
When his son Rick struggled with mental health issues, he was committed to a mental hospital. Carson abandoned him and never visited or addressed his son’s issues.
His son, Rick, later died when his car rolled down an embankment in 1991.
On the first show after Rick’s death, Johnny featured some of his artwork on the show while blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn played “Riveria Paradise” on the guitar.
Years later, on Carson’s last show, some of Rick’s art was also featured.
