During the 1990s, when Gwyneth Paltrow was a rising star, she desperately wanted to get ahead. That means she was willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to get there, including one of her best friends at the time – Winona Ryder.
While hanging out at Winona’s house one day, Gwyneth came across the script for Shakespeare in Love and immediately fell in love with the story. She loved it so much that she grabbed the script and fled her best friend’s house without another word.
With the script in hand, Gwyneth got on a call with the director and demanded an audition. She got the role at the expensive of her friendship with Ryder and went on to win an Oscar.
