An Amazon delivery driver was caught on camera brutally attacking a California customer. The female customer and the female driver got into an argument, and things turned violent when the Amazon worker started battering the woman repeatedly with punches. Footage shows the Amazon employee beating the woman’s head during the attack – authorities have now confirmed that the employee has been arrested for attacking the 67-year-old Amazon customer during the incident.

The dispute turned violent after the customer confronted the worker about a delayed package. The Castro Valley incident was caught in several angles by different surveillance cameras. The footage clearly shows the Amazon worker striking the woman during the argument.

Now, the 21-year-old Amazon worker, Iztel Ramirez has been arrested as of Thursday. Although Ramirez claims that she struck the 67-year-old customer in self-defense, authorities are dubious about the claim.

The victim claims that the Amazon worker struck her about ten times around the face and head. Surveillance footage backs up this claim as it shows Ramirez raging at the elderly woman. The victim was the person who called 911 and reported the attack to police.

The elderly victim was a resident in an apartment building owned by Doug Smith. He told KTVU Fox 2 that the fight started after the customer told the delivery driver that she had been notified that a package had arrived for her. However, she couldn’t find it in the apartment building lobby, which was unusual.

When the resident asked Ramirez about the packaging, the Amazon worker said it should be arriving soon. Fifteen minutes later, the elderly woman asked Ramirez about the package again, which sparked the violent outburst from the overworked Amazon employee.

Smith was quoted as saying: “I believe the Amazon driver said something about ‘your white privilege,’ and my tenant said, ‘You don’t need to be a b— about it,’ turned around and walked away.”

When the 67-year-old white woman had her back turned to Ramirez, the Amazon delivery driver struck her in the back of the head.

An Amazon representative told Insider in a statement: “This does not reflect the high standards we have for drivers who deliver our packages. We take these matters seriously and this individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages.”

Unfortunately, the victim was harmed during the attack. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the 67-year-old resident may have suffered a broken nose because of the attack. She was also subjected to other visible injuries, according to law enforcement.

Sheriff Ray Kelly was quoted by KTVU Fox 2 as saying: “We can’t have our delivery drivers or people out there in the community attacking people, punching people in the face.”

Besides losing her job with Amazon, Ramirez has been arrested on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury. She was also charged on suspicion of elder abuse, according to KTVU Fox 2.

Ramirez is currently behind bars and has had her bail set at $100,000.
