President Trump announced that the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency will start rounding up and deporting millions of illegal immigrants next week. Trump won the election in 2018 on his promises of being tough on immigration, including building a wall along the border between Mexico and the United States. His supporters applaud the announcement that the deportations are beginning soon.
Trump announced the development on Twitter: “Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in.”
It’s not clear how ICE will implement this strategy.
It is estimated that there are as many as 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States.

The reactions to the news have been mixed. Not surprisingly, those who voted for Trump welcome the news, while those who oppose Trump are not happy about the decision.
Some people don’t believe this will stem the flow the immigrants to the United States:
“until USA utilizes a national ID system for citizens and puts employers, who out right run their business on illegal labor in jail. 70% of the deported will just come back, it’s been proven over and over.”
Others feel that this will benefit those who are waiting to come into the country legally:
“There are people waiting in line for a visa to come into the United States of America, but with the surge of too many illegal immigrants; there is no need for employers to go to Congress and say ‘we need more workers please speed up some of the pending visas.’ Illegal immigration is such a downer for all of the people that are going through the legal process. Not fair.”
Some feel that this announcement will help cement Trump for another four years, winning him the election in 2020:
“I am not really a republican or democrat but reading articles and listening to democrat hopefuls, I hope Trump receives another four years. I think if a democrat gets into office, the flood gates will truly open. Until they decide to uphold the laws in this country, they have no business in office.”
