We Thought She Was Crazy For Buying This Old Cabin, But After The Renovation We We Speechless

It’s amazing when someone sees the untapped potential in a home and really turns “a diamond in the rough” into something amazing. That’s the case with this woman’s remarkable transformation of an old cabin that didn’t seem to offer much at all. Everybody loves a good home makeover, as evidenced by the popularity of oh-so-many home improvement shows on TV, but this one is truly impressive. The tiny little two bedroom cabin, known as the “Cutest Little House,” is located in Narrowsburg, two hours away from New York City on Luxton Lake.

The Luxton Lake dam was breached in 1983 and the lake was drained, resulting in the small community disappearing and the cabins left abandoned. Tina Spangler purchased the house and got to work on the improvements, completing renovations with a decidedly retro feel in 2013. The home can now be rented on Airbnb.

The living room is simple enough, with comfortable seating and a striped rug in a darling arrangement that just makes you want to curl up with a good book.

The kitchen, while small, has the amenities any vacationer could need, with an amazing restored retro 1950s stove, small refrigerator, and sink, as well as a dining area for two. Trendy subway tile backsplash frames the wooden counter tops perfectly, and there’s plenty of storage found in the shelving that occupies the wall space, filled with vintage kitchenware.

Moving on to the bedroom, vacationers can enjoy the peaceful retreat of the master, with an antique bed and plenty of natural light streaming in.

The bathroom is quite ample, given the small footprint of the cabin, boasting a beautiful antique clawfoot tub that’s just screaming for a relaxing soak.

The home can accommodate a whole family with the additional second bedroom, which makes use of the limited space expertly with a bunk bed that kids will go nuts over.

The cabin also has a small deck off the back for entertaining as well as fire pits for making s’mores and telling ghost stories. Firewood is provided for free.

Tina explains the location of the cabin in the Airbnb listing, writing: “The legendary Luxton Lake / Ten Mile River region is the setting for the cutest little house in Narrowsburg, NY. Ideal for a couple, a small group of friends, or an artist looking for inspiration, this charming house is located two miles from the artsy town of Narrowsburg, nestled along the Delaware River and chock-a-block with art galleries, antiques, ice cream & coffee shops, a supermarket, gas station, and several of the best restaurants in the region.”

Pictures on the rental listing show off the beautiful home as well as the gorgeous natural surroundings, as Tina describes: “In addition to the house, feel free to enjoy the three-acre park across the road that bustles with wildlife and offers a swing set for the kids. A short walk down a quiet country road leads you to my private 2-acre picnic spot and swimming hole at the picturesque Ten Mile River Falls.”

The home has won rave reviews on Airbnb from guests who have stayed at the cabin, including comments like: “Fantastically cute cabin. Perfect for a couple or family who is looking for a break from it all” and “The little house was beautifully appointed, very cozy, very clean, and in a great area.”
